From the Inside Flap

Living in a seaside mobile home, the Aldens unravel the secret of two secluded women. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

About the Author

The Boxcar Children Series was created by Gertrude Chandler Warner, a teacher, when she realized that there were few, if any, books for children that were both easy and fun to read. She drew on her own experiences in writing the mysteries. As a child, she had spent hours watching trains near her home, and often dreamed about what it would be like to live in a caboose or freight car. In each story, she chose a special setting and introduced unpredictable, unusual or eccentric characters, to help highlight the Aldens’ independence and resourcefulness. Miss Warner lived in Putnam, Massachusetts until her death in 1979.

I read the Boxcar Children as a child and then shared the books with the children when I taught school. I gave the first 16 books to my niece (age 6) for Christmas last year. She just loves them and wants more. They made it to her wish list again this year. Her love of reading has soared since she started reading the adventures of the Boxcar Children series. A great gift for kids that will last a life time. She can't get enough and will spend hours curled up reading. It's great hearing about the adventures of the children.

My eight year old son says, "I liked the castle in the book and it was a good mystery." He enjoys reading the Boxcar series.
