4.0 out of 5 stars It kept my attention. It had cool stuff like a talking bird.
It kept my attention. The Boxcar Children are on an island they think they are alone. But they aren't, soon they find a boy, named Peter, who was skip-wrecked. There are a lot of exciting parts, such as when they find a giant turtle shell and when they hear about Peter's friend who went swimming in water where sharks were spotted. He never returned. The ending is good...

3.0 out of 5 stars A pretty good book
This book was a longer boxcar, and fun to read. But it got kind of boring after a while, and one day I just read two pages of it because I just thought it was so borring. But then it got good, and I finished it. At first you might think about just not reading it beacuse it's kind of boring in the first part, but after a little more reading it gets really good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another one of my favourites, September 28, 2002
By
I used to read this and think it would be so fun to go to a tropical island with Lars and the Boxcar Children and live on sea biscuits.

I still find it a very good book. I'm not sure what the other reviewers mean about its being slow at the beginning - every story has to have a beginning. You can't jump into the action without a bit of setting or you fall flat. Anyway. I didn't find it slow.

I recommend it greatly, especially if you like stories of survival on remote islands.

4.0 out of 5 stars Why I like Blue Bay Mystery., November 19, 2003
A Kid's Review
I read the book Blue Bay Mystery. The author is Gertrude Warner. On a scale from one to five, I would give it four. I would give it four beacuse it is intresting, but sometimes it was a bit boring. I learned a lot of things from this book and encourage people from seven to eleven to read it. My favorite part was when they found out that there was a mystery, because I thought it was the most exciting part. I think this is a great book and will try to find more books written by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic, Clean Reading for Children, December 27, 2010
Nothing stirs the imagination more than a mystery in a far away place. Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny live with their grandfather, after living in a boxcar (the Boxcar Children). Grandfather takes the four on vacation to the South Seas to an uninhabited island, or so they thought! Someone is on the island and doesn't want them around. Who is this castaway and what is he hiding?

True to her style, Warner's "The Boxcar Children Blue Bay Mystery" serves up fun, adventure, mystery and perhaps a little danger - and what could be more fun than that?

KINDLE: This is a perfect book for reading on the Kindle. The illustrations are black and white originally, so on the device they are just as clean and crisp.

Gertrude Chandler Warner has delighted children for years with her stories of four children and their exciting and ALWAYS mysterious adventures.

I fell in love with the Boxcar Children when I was in school and I devoured them. As an adult I still marvel at Warner's ability to weave a good storyline without the need to include horrible car crashes, blood, or morbidity (if that's a word).

5.0 out of 5 stars An Awesome Adventure, April 30, 2005
I liked the part when they found the turtle shell and the stones in the water. It was cool when they found the button in the fish. It was very mysterious when they found somebody had taken the crackers. I would reccommend this for other first graders and beyond. It was a cool book. Annelies age 7

5.0 out of 5 stars Boxcar Page Turner, April 15, 2006

(REAL NAME)
Have read the first eight Boxcar Children books and think this is one of the three best with the other two being The Yellow House Mystery and The Woodshed Mystery. The Blue Bay Mystery involves a trip most children and adults can only dream about. Surprise Island was good also. With the Box sets 1-4 and 5-8, four books are available for the price of two and a half. I read these books in order and there are references in the books to events and characters in previous books but not enough that the books could not be read out of order or as stand alone books. Gertrude Chandler Warner wrote the Boxcar Children books over a period of many years from the 1940's to the 1970's. She must have enjoyed writing them and that spirit comes through in her books.
