A Timely Classic,
By
This review is from: Mystic Christianity (Hardcover)
Yogi Ramacharaka's amazing Mystic Christianity was first published nearly 100 years ago. It retains its vitality even now. The style is formal, but also has a lot of wit and passion.
The book consists of a series of 12 lessons, which discuss the background for the coming of Jesus, the events surrounding his birth, his early years in Nazareth, his travels to Asia, and his eventual return to Judea for a 3 year ministry, with the culmination of arrest, show trial, and crucifixion. What makes this book special is the weaving of more traditional eastern metaphysics, which he calls "occult," or more modernly known as "hidden," wisdom in the life and teachings of Jesus. This perspective is invaluable for those who are seeking different, and more enlightened interpretations of the story. One will also see readily the "elitism" found in the distinctions between exoteric Christianity, which is understood by and appeals to the masses, and esoteric Christianity, which is understood by only a few, who can grasp the higher, more refined and subtle meanings found in more challenging parables, but which are discussed in the Gospels as those talks Jesus had with his disciples in private. At the time this book was published, Yogi Ramacharaka was living in the midst of fundamentalism, as we are now, and his work is designed to give hope and inspiration to those who are looking for an approach to the life and work of the Master that is in full accord with the timeless nondual teachings of the East. I highly recommend Mystic Christianity to open-minded readers and seekers looking for a Jesus who shows a path to enlightenment that is uplifting and based on real freedom.

The Master's Cosmic Mission Explained,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mystic Christianity (Kindle Edition)
William Walker Atkinson, aka Yogi Ramacharaka, Swami Panchadasi, Magus Incognito, The Three Initiates, is one of my favorite authors of all time. Mystic Christianity is the most simple, yet profound explanation of Jesus's mission on earth ever written. I've given away many copies of this mystic classic to people who are not hung up on dogma, who are open minded enough to appreciate Atkinson's explanations of the "teachings of the Master." These teachings transcend religion and encompass universal truths from both East and West. Atkinson has influenced my writings as well - you will see it in Mystic Secrets Revealed Mystic Secrets Revealed: 53 Keys to Spiritual Growth and Personal Development

The Jesus my heart always longed for,
By
This review is from: Mystic Christianity (Paperback)
I found this book at just the right time. After leaving mainstream Christianity years ago, due to many conflicts between theology and my thinking mind, I began to study and learn about many traditions and to study metaphysics. No matter how much wonder and beauty I saw, as the world became more magical and mystical in my growing awareness and understanding, I always felt a tinge of guilt because this was not the biblical truth I grew up with. I missed Jesus too, having felt the closeness and the love from him as a youth. This book completely revolutionized my understanding, marrying the compassion of Jesus with the metaphysical and mystical teachings I have become so familiar with. My heart is now opening and ready to follow Jesus once again, with renewed strength and an intelligence that doesn't have to be left behind in the process! Thank you for this gift!
