Curses! It's Vacation Time,
By
This review is from: Mystic Knoll (Charmed) (Mass Market Paperback)
The charmed ones and family are having a rough time. Finally they agree to take a much0-needed vacation. Because of Paige, they will visit Salem and then do some antiquing. But some minor twists have them end up at a bed and breakfast in a small town near the mysterious Mystic Knoll. The Charmed ones have forgotten that there are no coincidences and it takes them a while to realize they have a job to do.
The local Mystic Knoll is said to be a place of power with relics that date back 4,000 years. Possible electromagnetic emanations affect the local wildlife. It may also be affecting the granddaughter of their innkeeper. Clearly something is going on and getting close to a climax. The charmed ones look into the local history and that of the granddaughter to try and uncover the mysteries. Who is the innocent they are to protect? Is it the granddaughter, the innkeeper, the entire town? That is left for the Charmed ones to puzzle out before it becomes too late. One of the better Charmed books so far.

Not my cup of tea,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mystic Knoll (Charmed) (Mass Market Paperback)
It is decently written but does not have the usual compelling and intriguing feel of a regular Charmed novel. The Charmed ones do not seem to be required very much in this situation. Basically, the bottom line of the story is such that the innocents must be protected, which they are, but the story does not lead you to the direction of the Charmed ones aspect, the story line doesn't involve them at all (think INHERIT THE WITCH). Also, it was pretty mind-boggling, especially when mystic knoll gives off some electro-magnetic field, causing local wildlife to have "tics", which is rather hard to wrap my mind around.
That aside, the novel was written in a manner that you will understand the concept of the story, bit by bit and piece by piece steadily, that you finally get what the idea is about. A decent release.

I have read many Charmed books including "The Offical Charmed Companion," but i can honestly say that this was the best book of Charmed i have read to date!!! I love all the suspence and action. Most of the Charmed books i've read have maybe one big action part that only lasts like a chapter or two, but this one...this one was sooo awesome at how it detailed every little thing!!! I recommend this book to any Charmed fan, ur collection is not complete w/o this book!! This is definately Diana Gallager's best!!

One of the Best,
By Karl G "Jerry" (Singapore) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mystic Knoll (Charmed) (Mass Market Paperback)
One of the best Charmed books, Mystic Knoll promises the right combination of action, adventure and magic. Diana G. Gallagher delivers a great storyline and creative writing, along with slapstick humor and good movement. It is a bit thick, but that's expected. The story starts subtlely, with a little road travelling, a little chat and kamikaze creatures. After a while, light sheds on the turth and small revelations unfold. The ending is very explosive, literally, and I was quite satisfied overall.

Charming Mystery,
By Elizabeth Scully (Massachusetts) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mystic Knoll (Charmed) (Mass Market Paperback)
Long days of demon killing make for weary Charmed Ones, and so Paige convinces her sisters to take a vacation. They plan to visit Salem (Paige wants to learn about Wiccan history) and then relax on the beach. Fate, however, seems to have other plans. The sisters get lost, ending up in Cairn, New Hampshire, a small town home to the mysterious Mystic Knoll.
In Cairn, the sisters stay in a bed and breakfast run by an inhospitable old woman and her timid granddaughter, Harriet. When Phoebe notices Harriet's bruises, she wonders if the girl is a victim of abuse- or something even more sinister. Meanwhile, Paige is more interested in the inn's handyman, and Piper, Leo, and baby Wyatt enjoy their first family vacation. Gallagher unfolds the pieces of the mystery steadily, slowly revealing Harriet's horrible secret and the background of her family. This book is also noteable for the first appearance of baby Wyatt; there are several cute scenes of Piper and Leo with their new baby. Fans of the show will surely enjoy their trip to Mystic Knoll.

the charmed ones need a break. they decide to go to salem and then the beaches. but they get sidetracked into a little town called carin and decide to spend the night. this town has their own famous magical mystery, a place called the mystic knoll. some explain it away with science but anyone who lives around it seems to be affected including the innkeeper's granddaughter who has fits and spells that the charmed ones can't resist trying to look into and help the poor young woman out.
this story has enough twist and turns to make for good reading. the characters are true to form and they evey give baby wyatt his moment in the sun. i think any charmed fan will just love it. |
