This book is wonderful!!!!!!!,

This review is from: Mystic Memories (Time Passages) (Paperback)
This was the first book of Susan Leslie Liepitz's that I have ever read and I was captivated from start to finish. Her writing is wonderful ... descriptive, sensitive and very touching. The story was so believable that by the end, I was almost in tears. Don't pick up this book unless you you have the time to finish it in one setting, it is that good.

Mystical Happenings!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mystic Memories (Time Passages) (Paperback)
In 1998 a little boy disappears from a ship named The Mystic. The father, the police, and detectives has searched for months. Cara is his last hope. Cara is called a Mystic. She has the gift of second sight. Using her gift, Cara follows Andrew, the little boy, to 1833 from the portal on board The Mystic. She finds herself amidst a crew in a storm. She survives and with the help of Captain Blake begins her search for Andrew. Blake does not understand how Cara seems to "know" when danger is near. She can "see" the past and future. She "understands and pictures" anything anyone thinks by tuning in. He is convinced she is insane, but his heart will not let her go. Blake calls Keoni his brother. Keoni seems to accept all Cara says as natural. Blake is not as superstitious, however. When Cara told Blake she could make him remember his past, he declined. She helps him anyway. Soon he remembered. Along with the pain from memory of his childhood, he and Cara find even more secrets hidden in his past than expected. Worse, they both fear what will happen once Andrew is found. Cara and Andrew will have to find the way back to their own time.

Psychics, Sea Captains, A Dog, and Romance!,
By lop1988@stlnet.com (Illnois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mystic Memories (Time Passages) (Paperback)
I picked this book up as a "filler" for some spare time, and wasn't able to put it down until the early hours of the morning! This time-travel is well-researched, with a lot of historical detail on 19th century ships and seafaring. The characters are very believable, with a lovely romance between the two main characters. There's also a Labrador Retriever featured (you can never go wrong by making dogs part of the story--in my book, anyway!). The author handles the psychic abilities of the main character quite well. There's an interesting twist to the plot that completely surprised me! For lovers of 19th century ship romances, this will be a treat!

Magical time travel romance! A keeper!,
This review is from: Mystic Memories (Time Passages) (Paperback)
Cara & Blake's tender love affair is an adventure you won't want to miss! It has all the best elements in a romance novel--mystery, adventure, psychics, & even (my fav character) an outrageously wonderful dog. This one made me laugh & cry, & kept me glued to the pages. It's the kind of story that stays with you & leaves you asking for more. I'll be on the lookout for more of SLL's works.

Haunting, romantic time travel with an enchanting twist.,

This review is from: Mystic Memories (Time Passages) (Paperback)
Mystic Memories is a haunting story from its unusual cover to the end of the Epilogue. Engaging characters, all, including Bud, the dog. In the end, some things were not made as clear as I would have preferred, but the story was thoroughly enjoyable (I would even enjoy reading this one again). It also left a huge opening for a sequel. Perhaps we should learn what happens to Andrew's son? You won't want to put this one down, in any case.

Everything about it strokes the senses,

"Don't pick up this book unless you plan to stay up all night: Susan Leslie Liepitz draw you in deep with characters so real they might come knocking at your door. . . . [Captain Blake Masters] is a true hero-very human in spite of being handsome; compassionate yet practical; and realistically frustrating at times. . . . Ms. Liepitz chooses words exquisitely in her sensual prose. The transitions in time are plausible and the author's take on how people perceive life after death touches the heart. This is a mystical story, woven well. Everything about it strokes the senses, giving the imagination a curl-your-toes workout." 4½ stars Cyndie Dennis-Greer reviewing for Romantic Times

Time warp into the past, and then the present,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mystic Memories (Time Passages) (Paperback)
Cara finds her true identity of her psychic being. Intriguing and semi-romantic. It was a nice story but semi hard to believe. But its fiction, right? It kept me reading, but ... I cant tell you the ending, wish I could. A good book even though I expected more :)

Very special work of romance,

Fourth grader Andrew Charles of Huntington Beach, California was on an overnight field trip with his school. The class was staying on a rebuilt nineteenth century sailing ship, The Mystic, when somehow the lad vanished into thin air. His desperate father turns to noted psychic sleuth Cara Edwards to find the missing child. Though reluctant to take on the case, Cara agrees to board the ship in order to trace Andrew's footsteps. On the ship, an invisible portal to everyone but her opens up and she enters to find herself on board the Mystic in 1833. A storm soon washes Cara and the ship's captain, Blake Masters onto a nearby shore line. Together they search for a missing twentieth century lad even as the pair falls in love with each other. However, though it might appear that their love has all the time in the world to cement a permanent relationship, their century apart origins would ostensibly send both scurrying back to their rightful time because this time, even love might not be enough to make things right. MYSTIC MEMORIES is a very interesting time travel romance that will be fully enjoyed by readers. The story line is typical of the sub-genre, though written better than most. However, the characters are incredibly developed (in both centuries) and seem genuine, making this one of the better time travel entries in several years. Susan Leslie Liepitz is a very talented writer, who knows how to elegantly employ the English language in her novels. Harriet Klausner |
