An Eye-opening Spiritual Classic!, September 17, 2000
This review is from: The Mystic Path to Cosmic Power (Paperback)
I first ran across this book when I was in College back in the late sixties. I walked into The San Jose Book Shop near San Jose State University and on a whim told the kindly, old gentleman that I would buy any one book in the store that he recommended. Without hesitation he handed me a copy of The Mystic Path to Cosmic Power by Vernon Howard. The title seemed a bit strange, but I had given the man my word so I bought it. I read the first chapter and found the book so unsettling that I threw it in the garbage. About six months later I decided that my mind was a bit too cluttered with repetitive thoughts and decided I would give the book another try. This time I bought it and found it just as unsettling as before. But this time I was a bit smarter and only threw it in the bottom of my closet. About six months went by until I again decided to give it another try. This time I only had to dig it out of my closet to begin reading. This time the book made perfect sense. Every word was golden! In other words I was now ready for the inspiring and uplifting message it contained. Over these many years I have worn out many copies from overuse. This book was a real stepping stone for me and I would not be the person I am today if this book had not opened my eyes to the spiritual purpose behind our everyday life. Now is this book the last word in spiritual knowledge? No, of course not. But it is a heck of a beginning! Those who read this book and apply its teaching with dedication in their daily lives will, by doing so, open themselves to further spiritual guidance. I recommend this book highly and I hope that many people will be inspired to read it based upon my review.

The Key to YOUR Kingdom / The Key to a New World, December 2, 2001
This review is from: The Mystic Path to Cosmic Power (Paperback)
I first read this book years ago. As I grew in consciousness, it was amazing to see this book "grow" also. This book changed my life. My career changed. My lovelife changed. My finances changed. This book showed me that I controlled my emotions, and opened the way for me to become aware of my "True" Self, as Mr. Howard puts it. I can't tell you how many times I read, and re-read this book. My old paperback finally disappeard, and I just ordered another one today. I am a voracious reader, and eclectic in my reading subjects. I love sci-fi, mysteries etc. But of the hundreds of thousands of books that I've read, I rate this one the most life changing of all. The cost of this book is truly an "in" -vestment, not an expense. And if the ideas sound strange, but hopeful, know that the changes Mr. Howard says will happen, WILL happen. All you have to do is persist. His book, PSYCHOPICTOGRAPHY is also a magnificent book. It's like a companion "storybook" (parables) that entertains and thus slips by your conscious mind, not encountering its usual resistance. This allows these ideas to work on your subconscious, helping the wonderful changes to work on you. And then "outpicture" in your life. When you meet your True Self, you will live in a new world. We'll love it!

The complex made simple, February 3, 2000
This review is from: The Mystic Path to Cosmic Power (Paperback)
Vernon Howard, quite simply, knows the truth. The true nature of reality, of our interpretation of it, how those perceptions shape our existence. He explains his position in clear, concise, almost terse language. This is not a book of elegant prose. It's a manual; matter-of-fact, to the point. He's the Hemingway of the self help authors. His writing should particularly appeal to men who are a little uncomfortable with touchy-feely books, but have an interest in understanding themselves. A book of great power, recommended to those who seek to break free of themselves. Buddha said "When you break the boundries of ignorance you break the bonds of Karma." Howard could have written that.
