Mystic Path to Cosmic Power by Vernon Howard is a perfect book. An awakened man wrote this book and it explains in clear language the way to become awakened. I attended classes and personally met this man and he embodied everything he taught about awakedness. He spoke clearly and directly to the ignorance that enslaved me and called it out for me to observe, and in that observation, I have seen freedom. There's nothing to "do" to awaken. There is something to see. Vernon Howard explains the darkness so perfectly that light becomes apparent. He was teaching these truths before so many others, yet his words are still the purest. If you are suffering, you need this book. Vernon will show you why you suffer and how to leave that suffering behind. Whether you suffer from guilt, loss, fear, jealousy, anger, or anything else, he will show you the thought patterns that have created that suffering and how those thought patterns can be seen through and risen above. Before I read Vernon Howard's work I was depressed and hostile. His teachings have released me from this painful way of living. He can do the same for you.

Marvelous book with a hokey title. The information on

relationships in this book can, if applied, help transform your

life to the good - permanently. It's compatible with all

religious and spiritual traditions. I've been recommending this

and other Vernon Howard books such as 50 Ways to See Thru

People, for nearly 30 years now. They are a "must" for

everyone who wants to learn to see through the ways of the

world and transcend them, who wants to apply spiritual

awareness in everyday life, who wants to make a positive

difference in the world.

I found this book to be one of the most awesome books I have ever read-and I read a lot! It's right up there next to my cherished Bible. Vernon Howard is a very powerful and interesting writer who brought me to a much deeper inderstanding of my personal spirituality. I have bought many copies of this book to give to my friends and family when they have gone through their rough times, and everyone has received great benefits from it. Highly recommend this book!

Have 4 other books by Vernon Howard, but this one is my favorite.

Really is easy reading and hard to put down. I would recommend it to

anyone who is interested in using their mind to create a better life.

YOU WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN. IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE. IT CHANGED MINE OVER 5 YEARS AGO, AND I AM STILL GROWING FROM IT EVERYDAY!

Howard teaches that suffering comes from a variety of causes. Much of our pain is caused by resistance to the truth of our inner poverty. Other causes are mistaking thoughts for reality, living in the past or the future, mistaking the false, conditioned self for the True Self and, most importantly, fear. Some tools for spiritual advancement include self-knowledge, receptivity, and present-moment awareness.

Howard contends that the message of mysticism is:

"Happiness is yours in the here and now. The painful states of anxiety and loneliness are abolished permanently. Financial affairs are not financial problems. You are at ease with yourself. You are not at the mercy of unfulfilled cravings. Confusion is replaced with clarity. There is a relieving answer to every tormenting question. You possess a True Self. Something can be done about every unhappy condition. While living in the world you can be inwardly detached from its sorrows to live with personal peace and sanity."

Pretty heady promises. Mystics have always taught that our emotions are not a result of outside events but of how we interpret those events, and our interpretations may be conditioned by parents, peers, society, etc. They may spring from outdated beliefs and values that we thought served us in less than ideal circumstances.

First and foremost, we must become self-aware. And we must not mistake the false self for the True Self that is divinely inspired. It takes courage to see one's own flaws, and it takes wisdom to realize that these do not emanate from the True Self. No condemnation need follow such honest appraisal. After all, we can only release flaws we know about.

Since reading this book and separating myself from my thoughts and judgments and viewing them uncritically, I've learned quite a few things about myself. I'm embarrassed by some of what I've learned, or rather, my ego is embarrassed. My True Self is elated. Because I can choose now to judge differently, respond differently.

The mystic path requires relentless determination. It is a spiritual "practice," not a quick fix. And it's not easy. It's hard but eminently rewarding work. I think I can say that this book **at this time** has changed my life more than any other.

I have owned this book for years. It is dog eared a falling apart. I purchased 3 more copies. One for me and 2 for people I felt it would help. It is a book that enables self belief. That no-one can harm you but you.It empowers you to focus on loving yourself and being aware of your own universe.

This is a book to reach you at the soul level.

Read a little piece each day to set you on the path to conscious growth.

It's a delightfully dense book, best consumed in increments - at the end you'll want to read it again to see what you missed the first time.

I was at my OLD, small local library and came across this book. It has changed my life IMMENSELY. So I bought 3 copies from Amazon, one for me to keep and two to share with friends. I was raised Christian, but I am not religious- more spiritual. While the title seems a little out there, as soon as you start reading it, you get drawn in by the easy to read, common sense language. It is mildly New Age, but not something that Christians would run from. I believe in my abilities to take in what's useful and ignore the things that might not agree with my beliefs. But what I did realize while reading this book is just how closed minded we are taught to be in the church, and how much better off we would be if we would give things a chance. After reading this book, I am a much happier person, and MUCH less stressed. At first it was a conscious effort, and then it just came naturally. The book is NOT about religion, but about how our minds hold everything we need in order to live a happy, content life. And it is achievable for EVERYONE. It makes so much sense...

I read this book in the 90's but lost it. Now that Eckert Tolley's "A New Earth" is being read by millions (including myself)it reminded me of this book which says basically the same thing. This book made me awaken to truth which should be the ultimate goal of every human being.
