This review is from: Mystic Will: Based Upon a Study of the Philosophy of Jacob Boehme (Paperback)
Jacob Boehme was one of the most important thinkers and mystics who ever lived. Unfortunately, being a genius and highly original, he wrote in a sometimes obscure and difficult style, and this was almost four centuries ago. If you think a mystic is a life-denying, impractical person with his head in the clouds you need to read this book. Professor Howard Brinton has written a clear, fascinating explanation of Boeme's thinking, which later had a major influence on German philosophy and many great writers and thinkers. Since I have been interested in New Thought for decades ("The Secret" and the law of attraction books borrow from New Thought often without giving credit and throwing out the Christianity) I was fascinated to see that Boehme dovetails into this type of thinking. If you have ever been interested in Religious Science or Unity you will be interested in this book. Boehme's is a living, vital Christianity not the dead Christianity and spiritually dead Christians we too often have today. And for an easy introduction to Boeme's writing find the little book called "The Confessions of Jacob Boehme."
