Mystical Legacy by Ali Jihad Racy,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mystical Legacies (Audio CD)
Dr. Racy is a great master of this instrument (the Lebanese buzuq, similar in some ways to the Turkish saz and Greek bouzouki) and of the Arabic improvisatory form called "taqsim." His virtuosity is really amazing. The buzzy sounding buzuq is very pleasant to listen to. Dr. Racy learned the instrument as a child growing up in a Lebanese village that was particularly known for the players of this instrument. Anyone interested in Arabic music, world music, or acoustic instruments will most likely enjoy this album.

This review is from: Mystical Legacies (Audio CD)
if you purchased his "ancient egypt" cd and want more, you'll be satisfied with this. although it moves quicker, it still has a relaxing quality about it. i'd compare it with the kind of music you'd hear if you were eating at a moroccan restaurant that offered live music during your meal. not quite to the point of having a belly dancer dancing to it, but pretty close. supposedly this is a live recording. the audience is very well behaved, i would have sworn it was studio made. this one's better if you're trying your hand at middle eastern cooking (as a background music for dinner).
