Book Description

April 1, 1993
After more than twenty years of Buddhist Tantric practice, Master Sheng-yen Lu, founder of the True Buddha School, has been able, during his meditational practices, to merge with the Universe. He understands the secret of the Universe and is truly Enlightened. He has become a great adept and has achieved the Six Transcendental Powers--the six supernatural powers mentioned in Buddhism.

Among those who took refuge in Master Lu, many have experienced psychic responses from him, and many wondrous and inconceivable miracles have occured. The miracles in this book include the curing of terminal and karmic illnesses, accurate spiritual predictions, warning of imminent disasters, and lottery winnings. In Master's own words, "miracles will occur. One who experiences these will gain more confidence. Any student who has mystical responses should treat them as encouragement and not become attached to them. Students should humbly improve and better themselves, pursuing correct results and attaining Supreme Perfect Enlightenment. The authentic cases recorded in this book represent only a fraction of the numerous cases of mystical experiences witnessed by Master Lu?s students.

This review is from: The Mystical experiences of True Buddha disciples (Paperback)
This book is a another great book from Master Lu Sheng-Yen who uses the stories experienced by disciples to spread the buddha dharma in most eloquent fashion. Even if you are not Buddhist you can find stories that you can relate to.

Janny and the Purple Lotus team did their best in translation. They are not Pulitzer Prize writers. Besides that, there aren't any other english versions of this book so it's not like there's a better translation available. As far as I'm concerned the other reviewer doesn't have any right to criticize. I've read many of Janny's translations (both book and magazine) and her english and writing skills are good. I've also gotten a chance to listen to her translations in person at the temple and from comparing her to other translators I'd say she's very good. She gets the main meaning of what the speaker is trying to say and that's the most important point.

The English translation of this book can be improved, as the Chinese version is much better.
