Editorial Reviews

Hosted by Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, and build team members Tory Belleci, Kari Byron and Grant Imahara, the MYTHBUSTERS mix scientific method with gleeful curiosity and plain old-fashioned ingenuity to create their own signature style of explosive experimentation. The team s combined backgrounds in animatronics, robotics, model building and prototyping arm them with the ability to create anything they need to test a myth.

Ten Complete Episodes, including:
Alaska Special -If left alone in the remote hills of Alaska, can you really go mad? Plus, Pick-Up Ice Plunge & Moose Mayhem.
NASA Moon Landing-On this episode of Mythbusters, the Moon Landing Hoax Hour, the team tackles the tallest tale of all! Did NASA pull off the greatest cover-up in human history?
Exploding Steak- Jamie and Adam start from scratch to see if tough steak really can be tenderized with high-explosives. Plus, Don't Drive Angry
Blind Driving -In Scent of a Woman, a blind Al Pacino takes the wheel of a Ferrari and cruises down the back streets of NYC; Adam and Jamie take turns in putting on the blindfold to try this out. But there's a twist!

Plus, three golf myths!

Great dvd but buy this at target.

Each collection has fewer and fewer episodes, which is very disappointing.

The isn't a review, it is a correction. I've already told Amazon about it, and all they wanted to do was blame somebody/anybody else, and so the error is still not fixed. I bought this collection based on the statement in the 'Editorial Review' that it included the Apollo Moon Landing episode. This collection (#5) does not include that episode. If you want that one, it is included in Collection #4. I am sure the episodes in Collection #5 are all top-notch, even though I didn't really want to buy them, but since Amazon demands I rate it before they'll post this, I'll give it '5 stars' and 'two enthusiastic thumbs up' unless you're looking for the Apollo Moon Landing episode, like I was. Also, I can't vouch for the accuracy of the remaining episodes listed in the aforementioned 'Editorial Review.' So, FYI, straight from the DVD box, the episodes included in Mythbusters Collection #5 are: Alaska Special; Exploding Steak; Blind Driving; Ninjas 2; Alcohol Myths; Motorcycle Flip; Coffin Punch; End With A Bang; Alaska Special 2; and Banana Slip Double Dip. I sincerely hope I've been helpful and sufficiently snide.

I love Mythbusters and own every collection. However, this collection has the least amount of episodes out of all of them. You receive 2 discs that have 5 episodes on each disc--obviously only 10 episodes. Compared to previous collections, this is almost nothing. The first collection you received 4 discs--and almost double the amount of episodes than with collection 5. Each collection has fewer and fewer episodes, which is very disappointing. Great show and the episodes in collection 5 are classic--I just wish they put more episodes in the collection.

Mythbusters is a fantastic show. The show on its own gets a 5-Star in my opinion. On the other hand...

This dvd set contains very few episodes. Why don't they release this show in series anymore? The used versions of the series sell at inflated prices, so obviously that's the format that people would rather purchase. Why did they discontinue the season releases? I know this show doesn't follow a season format, but the Discovery Channel could release every 25 episodes in a box set and call it a season. Or they could package all the episodes that aired over the course of a calendar year and call that a season. I hate trying to collect an entire series when the releases are haphazard.

My specific problem with Collection 5 is that, as other reviewers have pointed out, it offers less episodes than the previous Collection releases. I can't see any motivation for that since there are plenty of episodes waiting to be released except to stretch out the releases as thin as possible to sell us as many Collection sets and take more of our money for the same amount of product.

It's a great, stimulating show-5 Stars. The marketing decisions get 1 Star. The average of the two = 3 Stars, hence my rating. Show good. Discovery Channel bad.

The price for this dvd hovers around 15$. Buy this at target for 15$ and save the hassle of shipping and the up-and-down price. this dvd has these episodes: -Alaska Special, -Exploding Steak, -Blind Driving, -Return of the Ninja (AKA Ninjas 2),
-Alcohol myths, -Motorcycle Flip (My Favorite), -Coffin Punch, -End with a Bang,
-Alaska special 2, and Banana Slip Double Dip. Great dvd but buy this at target. I love it and no flaws.

Like everyone else, I wish that there were more episodes included in each of these collections, but the episodes that are included here are really great. Both Alaska specials are here (are there more than two? If so, this collection has the first two), and a lot of other great myths are explored, including more ninja myths, more drinking myths, and, as always, some really excellent explosions. :) (And of course, poor Buster sustains a lot of damage). Highly recommended for Mythbusters fans.

This was purchased as a Christmas gift for my son who loves the show. He has watched the DVD's quite a bit since then, and they have supported his interest in science. Can't beat that!
