Mythic Tarot Deck and Book Set,

This review is from: Mythic Tarot Deck and Book Set (Cards)
Unlike most tarot readers who started off with the Rider-Waite Tarot Deck, I used the Mythic Tarot Deck as my first deck. I have bought it seven years ago and i took it out for a reading this morning -- it still work like a charm (no puns intended).Well other Decks have their innate charm, beauty and symbolism, I find that the mythic tarot -- in centering on Greek legends -- have a frame work in which the meanings are put very clearly. The minor acrana shows the everyday experience of the life-situation we encounter in life. Thus the creator of this deck, cuts a cross-section/dissect each myth/story into card-images. Each card thus tells a vivid situation which is instantly recognised and the meaning is remembered. This is far easier to a beginner; compared to a three vases with water spurting out of it in certain decks. The major acrana is also amazing as these do not dissect images of man/woman in their individual stories, they are mostly of the Gods and Major Mythological Figures whom we already know to heart. Demeter as Empress, Zeus as Emperor, Persephone as the High Priestess, Chiron as the Hierophant... etc. These deck is deceptively simple looking because of the slightly cartoonish drawings. As an added point, i would prefer to see a card showing the cartoonish picture of Hades embracing his new citizens compared to a hideous animated skeleton with a sickle loping heads off -- which signify 'change' more accurately and not 'DEATH'. Thank you for reading this review thus far. Regards.

An excellent source for anyone who wishes to learn the Tarot,

After researching and returning many packages of Tarot cards, this one called to my logic and spirit and senses, grasping my understanding and becoming a part of me as I read it. The book explains how all the cards grow from each other and divides the suits to each quarter. You can't come away from this set without becoming a master of it...Deep mystical and pure...Perfect for inner reflection! A wonderful way to become enlightened!

I think the most important part of choosing a tarot deck is finding one that resonates with you. I came upon this deck about ten years into card reading. Suddenly, everything became clearer, more detailed, and more lively. What a difference the deck makes! I was a Greek/Roman mythology fan way before I got them, so it just was a good fit for me. I have given this deck to others, some mythology fans some not, and they all found it easy to learn tarot due to the logic and flow of the cards. If you want a surface, fun deck, this is that. If you want something full of symbolism, this is also that. I have about ten decks of tarot cards. Three of them are mythic tarot. Since they are out of print, I want to make sure I am never without them. I really love this deck.

Learning Greek mythology and tarot in one,

Someone gave me this deck. When I studied the deck, I enjoyed the soft cartoon like images of the deck. The cards are a nice big easy to use size. The combination of explaining the fool's journey through Greek mythology was clever. I buy different decks to learn the range of card meanings, and this deck definitely broadened the knowledge base for me. An example would be finding out the Knight of Wands represents a move, or new job. This would be a great deck to use for readings for personal or professional use.

This deck is amazing! And the mythology angle makes it easy to remember the meaning of the cards faster. I highly recommend them to all.

These authors really hit the nail on the head. They selected the most fitting patterns in mythic stories and set them to the patterns in the cards. So, rather than thinking of every card individually, they depicted seamless stories: the story of the fool's journey through the imagination (wands), the intellectual mind (swords), physical manifestation (pentacles) and the emotional tie to it all (cups). The book and deck are not merely depictions from our deeply-rooted mythical history. The authors truly have a depth of understanding of these patterns of life that I can only hope to achieve in oh-perhaps another 20 years of fastidious study and practice. I really have The Mythic Tarot to thank for expediting my learning, and rekindling my love of the tarot.
