The Mythos series is an exceptional production of lectures delivered by Campbell probably in the early 80's to groups of students. He is utterly captivating in his presentation content and style. To Campbell, myth is the body talking to the conscious mind (not explanation for cosmic events as is often taught). Hence ALL spiritual beliefs are myth (even Christianity). In this series he runs the gamut of beliefs, from ancient Europe, India, the Middle East, American Indian, explaining, expounding. Wonderful stuff!

Having an opportunity to experience Joseph Campebell's extensive work in this format is a gift to all of humanity. Like is really too small a word to express my opinion. I admire the body of work in the entire series, volume one and volume two. My recommendation could not be stronger or more heartfelt. Enchanting and throughly engaging to watch and absorb. The overall presentation of complex information is seamlessly exchanged. One need not be a student in the topic to be enlightened and impressed. I truly feel passionate about the message of the content and in this case those who seek shall be rewarded. Each tape is well documented and easily understood. The classic teacher, storyteller weaves intricate details of myth, legend and lore that extend the boundaries into everyday reality. Joseph Campbell has an amazing talent for expression using dynamic descriptive qualities that are unigue and charming. He is quite simply an engaging and magnetic personality. Noteably Susan Saradon, is the perfect narative host. I am deeply gratful to those who brought his body of work forward to perpetuate the illumination of body, mind and spirit in man, for all of mankind.

I am deeply grateful to J C for the example he set for looking beneath the surface of myth and ritual, teaching each of us to better appreciate and meditate on whatever religious tradition we spring from. Campbell always called himself simply a teacher, yet to me he was so much more. His passion for life and gentle wisdom inform as much as the content of the taped lectures. Meeting Dr. Campbell, if only through his tapes, has changed my life.
