This is a great book published in 1915 and written so well that it could have been written today. Mackenzie does a great job in synthesizing creation stories from some of the most ancient cultures and connects the dots for the reader. As a student of history and anthropology, I find Mackenzie's take on the subject as fundamental to the study of history and religion...

On a separate note, it would great if people did not rate the book based on whether it loaded correctly on their electronic devices or whether the seller over charged their credit card. The book is a great book that needs to be rated on content not on how happy or not one is with issues that have nothing to do with the what the author wrote. So please keep your comments relevant to content and not customer service. Thank you.

This book contains the history and commentaries necessary to understand the evolution of the Judaic/Christian religion. It also has keys to understanding metaphysics of the ancients that are relative to the modern world. In other words, it contains information that is hard to find - a rare book indeed - and, in general, a great book for historians.

I love both history and mythology. I expected the latter, but was pleasantly surprised by how much of the former I got in reading this. My major concern, of course, is with the accuracy--I'm not a scholar, but I felt like many of these theories and things were likely out of date, especially with their emphasis on racial characteristics. However, as it was a region I knew nothing of previously, I felt like I learned quite a bit while also absorbed by interesting stories.

This book talks a lot about comparative mythology. It was pretty rough going for someone who just wanted a rundown of Babylonian mythology. I also understand they've made some new discoveries since 1915.
