The Polarization of World Opinion on the Status of Israel,
By A Customer
This review is from: Myths and Facts: A Concise Record of the Arab-Israeli Conflict (Paperback)
This book, Myths and Facts about the Arab-Israeli Conflict, is most informative and interesting. It is written to gain the trust and interest of the average American "layperson." I did not really have an opinion on the Arab-Israeli issue until I read this book. Now I see more clearly the necessity for having the State of Israel in our world today, and I hope others will feel this way now also. Happy reading!

Revised & Updated, A Veritable Gold-Mine Of Information !,
By
This review is from: Myths and Facts: A Concise Record of the Arab-Israeli Conflict (Paperback)
This book is a veritable gold-mine of information on the Middle East.It is far, far more than a reference book. Granted, those who are looking for an extensive, in-depth study on the Middle East should look for a book that specifically deals with the particular subject in question. However, this book provides some 450 pages of incredibly valuable information and covers with remarkable and accurate detail a whole plethora of subjects. Stemming from the British Mandate period, to the re-birth of the Jewish state, the Arab-Israeli wars, the Palestinian issue, refugees, the Intifada, the UN, the Mid-East `Peace Process', Jews in Arab/Islamic countries, the media and most significant of all, Jerusalem. Each particular issue weighs the commonly held views on the matter together with the propaganda, against the factual and true data on every issue and the relevant references and sources pertaining to each. Maps and charts are plentifully provided. Sometimes I wonder how much the political and diplomatic `powers that be' actually know about this most relevant of issues. It certainly would not do most world leaders any harm to keep a copy of this book on their office desks. If the reader weighs up what they see on the television screens and what they read in their daily newspapers against what appears here, they cannot but be alarmed at how today's media is distorting the manner in which this conflict is being presented to the public. Recommended.

Dissapointing,
I purchased this book hoping to get a clear and real picture of what is going on in Palestine today and the reasons behind it. Instead i ended up with 400 pages of 1 mans rant about how the Arabs are totally to blame for their current state. Lets not forget it was Palestinians that gave refuge to the Jews when everyone else had washed there hands of them.

This book is brilliant. It sets out all the material that I have seen in reliable and consistent material for the main events in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict in one resource.

This review is from: Myths and Facts: A Concise Record of the Arab-Israeli Conflict (Paperback)
While reading this book I could not help but burst out laughing over and over, as it is riddled with blatant inaccuracies, grossly misleading arguments, and outright falsehoods. If I had to summarize this book, I would say it was about how Israel has no fault in the Israel-Palestine conflict, how Israel has done everything it can for peace and has done nothing wrong, how all the blame for the violence over the past 100 or so years goes to Arabs, and how peace would come if only those warmongering Arabs would let go of their seething antisemitism. This alone should clue readers in to the fact that this book is pure propaganda, and tells more about the zealotous mindset of certain partisans than the conflict itself. Throughout the book Bard routinely distorts, omits, or makes up facts, and in doing so gives a largely inaccurate picture of the conflict and it's history. I strongly encourage interested readers to look elsewhere to learn about this conflict. Also, based on the 'scholarship' (I use the term loosely) shown in this book, I would avoid other books by Bard on this issue.
