4.0 out of 5 stars Best read on the Fire March 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is best read on the Kindle Fire. It does not have illustrations, yet it is chock-full of historical facts that just cry out for pictures. If you have a Fire, you can easily find those pictures on Google or Wikipedia as you read. If you're reading on a Kindle Keyboard or Touch, you'll be missing half the joy of the book. Fortunately, everything the author describes about Ireland's history is well illustrated on the net, so if you do have a Fire and get this, keep your lookup finger handy. In the first three pages I found 6 different things to look up, all of which were successfully illustrated on the net.

5.0 out of 5 stars A POT OF GOLD March 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
THE MYTHS, LEGENDS, AND LORE OF IRELAND is a fascinating book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is an excellent history of Ireland. It relates how the feud started with the Protestants and the Catholics (Orange and the Green), the gaelic language, their culture, music and heritage. My grandparents came from Ireland and settled in another small island called Newfoundland in Canada. Newfoundlanders and Irish share the same music and accent. If ya got Irish blood in ya, you will love this book. Highly recommended...better than a history book.

Updated March 15..to the person who left a one star review - how can you review a book after reading only a few pages? The facts in this book is solid and you would need to read the book in order to appreciate this brilliant Irish history book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ultimately Disappointed January 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The title of this work is "The Myths, Legends, and Lore of Ireland," but there's hardly any of that in this book. And while the info presented was interesting, it had very little to do with what was promised. This book reads like a history textbook, briefly touching on the main elements of Ireland's religious, political, and ethnic culture without actually revealing anything beyond what's available on Wikipedia. I'd hoped the book actually had actual stories from Ireland's rich treasure trove of myths, legends and lore, but alas, I was ultimately disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars I wouldn't buy it.
This was a VERY brief overview of Irish history and lore. It was more like a wordy timeline. Many chapters were redundant and there were several typing mistakes. Read more
