This short 1972 monograph uses the Pentagon Papers to refute the key arguments used by Vietnam War critics to make their case. Was Ho Chi Minh Vietnam's "George Washington?" Did the United States and South Vietnam violate the 1954 Geneva Conventions by refusing to participate in July 1956 elections? Was the war a "civil war" or international aggression by North Vietnam against the sovereign Republic of Vietnam? How popular was the Viet Cong?The monograph is available free of charge on the web page of the Center for National Security Law (search "Myths of the Vietnam War" in quotes and it should show up among the first hits as a pdf document. (In case it is not clear from the name, I am the author of this piece. Read it and make your own judgment.)
