A cd worth a listen,
By John Juergens (Minneapolis, MN USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mytown (Audio CD)
This is a great debut album from a new irish quartet. Paul, Marc, Danny and Terry have great voices that blend perfectly with great harmony. They have americanized their sound a little, but that's not all that bad. The guys did write a number of songs on the cd, so I feel that that is a plus. They also did a George Michael cover "EVERYTHING SHE WANTS"...which came across just great. "BODY BUMPIN'" makes you want to jump up, as well as the tribute song to the group "PARTY ALL NIGHT". Danny also sounds superb on piano, as well as the other guys. Most of the cd was recorded at Future Recording in Virgina. This is brand new from what I hear, so they did a great job there. The dance tracks do justice and the cd moves smoothly from one track to the next. The cd has some added goodies through enhancements, so that is always a plus. Once again...good job guys.

Irish Invasion,

Okay here they come, Irelands newest pride, mytown. You know that Ireland is like a big family when two of the mytown lads (Paul & Danny) work on the teen soap show Finbarr's Class with Westlife's Bryan McFadden. First impressions are important and mytown make you go breathless with amazement with the first album hearing. They start you off with 2 hot, get up and dance, songs "C'Mon Everybody" and "Body Bumpin'" then slow it down a notch by singing the romantic "Lifetime Affair". They kick it up again with their single "Party All Night" then prove to you that you are hooked, they sing Terri Clark's song "Now That I Found You". -Our Chemistry Will Last Forever- and you know that this lyric is definately true when "Time Will Tell" and "Love Sent Angel" make you swoon over these hot Irish Lads. With the power of Terry & Marc helping Danny & Paul out then sing the haunting yet classical song "Girl in Tears". Then you go on a three song rush with "I Like Your Style" warming you up to "Everything She Wants" the George Michael remix to finish with "Now is the Time". Imagine being on an energy rush because that's what you'll be feeling when the album ends with Danny's "The Day" with him playing piano. Mytown is talents, they sing, write, choreograph and play their own songs so you can just call them a part of the new boy band era. Buy this c.d. and you won't regret it.

An excellent CD from this vocal quartet,
This review is from: Mytown (Audio CD)
The four-man vocal group Mytown has done an excellent job on this self-titled CD. The material is a mix of tender ballads and fast-tempo pop/dance songs. These guys have real vocal talent, and the arrangements represent a good balance of solo parts and group harmonies. There are a number of good touches on this CD, such as the spoken-word interlude on "Lifetime Affair." I was impressed by the group's remake of the George Michael/Wham! song "Everything She Wants." "Party All Night" is pure fun, and "Now That I Found You" is an excellent romantic ballad. The guys show an effective range of moods in their vocal performances: at times smooth, funky, vulnerable, or cocky. If you like the work of groups like N'Sync or the Backstreet Boys, try out Mytown.

This is the best cd I own! Mytown has a great balance of fast, upbeat addictive songs, and beautiful slow songs! You definately won't regret buying this cd. My favorite songs on it are "The Day", "Body Bumpin" and "Love Sent Angel." The whole cd is worth it, no skipping tracks necessary!

Solid debut,

I still have this Mytown album 6 years later. This Irish quartet proved that they had some solid singing vocals on here. Many numbers like Body Bumpin', Girl In Tears, the nice remake of Wham!'s Everything She Wants and others show they can be funky one minute and smooth the next. The standout here is I Like Your Style, which glides so smoothly for its 4:44 length! Most impressive is that the group wrote most of the songs, and they all sound good. Unfortunately, it came out when the Backstreet Boys' Millennium album cooled down and when NSYNC's No Strings Attached sold over 2 million its first week of release in 2000. So nobody bothered to pay attention to this Irish boy band--might have sold 50,000 copies or so in the US. But I took a chance with Mytown and they should have gotten the same kind of press as the big names. When historians remember 2000, they'll boast about rival groups NSYNC and Backstreet, whom I liked. But they need to make a mention of this solid pop album by Mytown, as producers like Teddy Riley, Jack Knight, Guy Roche and others created solid music for them.

I really love these guys. I met them and they're total sweethearts and the cd rocks. Come on Everybody- This is one of my favorites, its a little short but its got Teddy Riley from Blackstreet in it. Body Bumpin'- This was the first single. Its a good dance track and the bridge is really awesome. Lifetime Affair- This is gonna be my wedding song. It's one of the sweetest songs I've heard in my life. Its about getting married. Party All Night- Love this one too. The guys sounds really great in it. Now That I found You- Mushy love ballad. Time Will Tell- This is one of my faves. I'm not too sure why, I just think its a cute song and I really like the end. Love Sent Angel-Mushy Love song Girl In Tears- This one is kinda sad. I Like Your Style- This is my personal fave. It goes "I like, your smile, I like, your style." Just a great song. Everything She Wants-This is a good one. It's a George Michael re-make. One of my faves from the cd. This Is The Time- This one is naughty. I like it. The Day- Sweet song that my fave member Danny wrote

If you enjoy hearing guy bands, then you can't help but compare them with other bands you've heard. I found their songs to be mediocre, but nothing spectacular. I felt Westlife and A1 to be better groups. Their music just hit the spot, but I couldn't get that from Mytown. It's a nice try for their first CD, but maybe the second will be better. Just my opinion here.

This is a very good album that makes you feel good. The only song on the album i'm not really into is "Girl In Tears". Other than that, the album is phat and a half. You'll love it. Not only that, but I saw them in concert once, and they play instruments on one of their songs, which is cool. They have really good voices...not only that, but I also met them, and they were extremely nice guys. This album is one of the few that is a step above other average boybands' albums.

AHHh...Mytown! *LOL* Having heard the song "Body Bumpin'" on the radio, i went to go buy the single, and hearing the clips from the album, i've told myself that i needed to get the CD! Well i Finally did, and it's one of the best cds i've ever own! This album has variety of styles of musik. From acoustic Guitars, to RnB to Slow ballads, Mytown has surely brought us a great cd that doesn't have one type of musik in it! "Love Sent ANgeL" (My FaVooRite Song) has such a lovely melody. "Party ALl Night" a Light dance/pop/guitar melody is great to listen to while drivin your car in the summer time. "Girl in Tears" a haunting but beautiful song stands out from the album. "C'Mon Everybody" The Opening Track is shure to get your groove on! Finishing the album "The Day" written by Danny is also a beautiful song. What i really admire about this group is that, they are different from Boy bands! Infact (!) they're not really a boy band! They write their own music, and they play their own instruments! if u bought one of their singles, you should go Buy the cd! it's worth it! =D
