5.0 out of 5 stars Review of "N Dey Say"
On "N Dey Say" Nelly displays a pensive attitude that one isn't really used to from a rapper whose most successful singles include "Hot In Here" and "Ride With Me," but it comes across naturally and is a perfect song for long, relaxed summer evenings. This songs rhythm reminds me of "Dilemma," Nelly's huge hit with Kelly Rowland back in 2002. It's great that Nelly is...

1.0 out of 5 stars Woah, Nelly! No, really - woah. Please. Stop.
Quite what we did to deserve Nelly has never been explained. Was he sent to us to punish us for our sins? If so, repent, repent!

Quite what we did to deserve Nelly has never been explained. Was he sent to us to punish us for our sins? If so, repent, repent!

Honestly, this guy has TWO songs, both of which he's released under various different names, but quintessentially they're exactly the same. He has his upbeat, fast rap songs, where he squawks out his latest mysogynistic, bling obsessed garbage, his annoying, elastoplast covered chipmunk face going a mile a minute, or his other song, which has him going, like, all deep on us and stuff. This is his slow song, and his voice goes down a couple of octaves. This, ladies and gentlemen, he's been getting away with for years. Unbelievable.

So, if you've heard his other slow songs, like that scum magnet "Dilemma" with the personality vaccum that is Kelly Rowland, you'll know exactly what to expect. No horrendous talk of "my Boo" here though, just a well-worn sample of Spandau Ballet's "True", used for no other purpose than it'll guarantee radio play.

And can we stop with this tedious over-use of phonetic song titles? "N De Say, Hot In Herre, Iz U, Ride Wit Me".. once is fine but.. really, stop it. In the end, though, when you look at the body of this mans work, it really does show a one-sided, one dimensional two-trick pony. Who, as I imagine he may put it, is utter sheeeeeeit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review of "N Dey Say", August 8, 2005
This review is from: N Dey Say 1 (Audio CD)
On "N Dey Say" Nelly displays a pensive attitude that one isn't really used to from a rapper whose most successful singles include "Hot In Here" and "Ride With Me," but it comes across naturally and is a perfect song for long, relaxed summer evenings. This songs rhythm reminds me of "Dilemma," Nelly's huge hit with Kelly Rowland back in 2002. It's great that Nelly is exploring his softer side because it makes him more dimensional and likeable. The song's message is positive and inspiring, Nelly raps about staying positive and taking control of one's life. The beat, which samples Spandau Ballet, is simple but not boring. The "Ohs" and "Da da das" in the chorus add flavor to the song's laid back feel. There are four tracks in all on this CD, the radio edit (clean,) the CD version (dirty, as found on "Suit,") and two remixes. The remixes are OK, but I don't exactly consider this track a dance song. This is probably one of Nelly's best singles.
