N100- Excellent pad for both business and home users, April 28, 2006
This review is from: L3K N100 CD/1.66 512MB 80GB COMBO 14.1 WLS WXPP (Personal Computers)
I have been users for both Dell and Thinkpad for around 10 years. I started from a Dell 3200, continue into a 6500, and finally switched to a Thinkpad five years ago, starting from a X21, T23, and eventually T42. I purchased the N100 for business use couple weeks ago. So far, I am extremely satisfied with the product. With Duo processor, the thinkpad can process 3D drawing and data mining tasks much faster than a single 2.4GHz CPU. I have been using the laptop for both my work and entertainment. As an old guy in his early 30s, I am not a fan for those fancy games, but I did watch DVD on the laptop, and of cause, there is no delay, no distortion at all. The LCD is really sharp, which adds a great value to the laptop. I think Levono inherits the design and traditions of Thinkpad from IBM in the N100.
I guess I am going to be a life-time customer for thinkpad, no matter it is IBM or Levono. The thinkpad lasts much longer than the Dell's laptop. If you compare Dell and Thinkpad with identical models, you probably won't be able to see the difference across the brand new items. However, one or two years later, you will notice the Dell is getting up and running slower, the fan is making louder noise, and the bottom is getting extremely hot. Why most families will choose to buy a new laptop/desktop from Dell every two to three years? The old model can't perform tasks decently in around two years. Now turn to IBM, during my five years' experience with IBM, I haven't had any words or complaints with all the Thinkpad models I have used so far. Consistent performance, portable, light, looks decent, sharp LCD... what else should a user looking for?
I have always spoken for Thinkpad, and I will speak for them in the future, as long as they keep the same design fashion, and keep the identical quality.
