Joystick is worthless.,
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: N64 Retro Bit Controller- Blue (Accessory)
I bought this item two days ago and wrote a review on it (same controller but different box, thats how I can write two about the same product). I gave it three stars out of five because the joystick was too sensitive and my on-screen character would start moving around randomly throughout the game which made it really hard when you wanted to shoot something. Well, two days later the joystick does not work. You have to push forward to go right and backward to go left (and that only works sometimes - I don't know how to go forward or backward). I bought this remote brand new and still in a case so I certainly hope this is just a faulty remote because three more are on there way that I didn't get canceled in time. I wanted this kind of remote for my N64 because it was new and I could not find new originals anywhere, however I think that buying a used good remote would be better than buying a new bad remote.

Avoid this at all costs. I bought one to replace the original controller that came with the console, and was hoping for magic. It's been how many years since the N64's release, so the technology has had to improve, right?
Wrong. As a test, I popped in Perfect Dark, since precision is key. The turning was horrid. She turned way too fast, and made aiming impossible. Just to make sure I wasn't out of practice, I plugged in an official controller that still worked, and the game ran fine, just like it used to. The handling is also rather awkward. I have small hands, and it was still odd grasping the controller because they shortened the length of the left and right sides. Go get a used controller if you want to actually play your game effectively.

I haven't tested this item on the n64. But I have tested it on my n64 emulator. It may work on the n64 ,however, it does not work on the computer. It moves like a squirrel on crack was controlling it. Buy it if you want to try it on the n64 but if your a computer gamer do not buy it.

feels a bit funky compared to the original and the resistance on the joystick isn't quite the same but it works great otherwise.

First of all, I bought 4 of these Nintendo 64 controllers. Bottom line, controllers are awesome. They work fine. Buttons aren't sticky, and the controllers can definitely take a beating. They're not gonna break on you. However, there is one complaint. A lot of people on here don't mention the sensitivity of the joystick. I own a brand new 64 controller made by Nintendo, so I know what the joystick is supposed to feel like. But even without the regular controller to compare to, the high sensitivity on the remade controllers is undeniably noticeable. I would recommend this controller to anyone that wants to play a game that ISN'T A FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. The only time the sensitivity gets in the way is when playing games like Golden Eye, Perfect Dark, and anything requiring precision. For games like Banjo Kazooie, Mario, and Mortal Kombat, the controller works just fine. But the joystick is extremely sensitive on all four of my controllers. Other than that they work just fine. And for $8 you can't beat that. But if you're serious about playing FPS, I would recommend investing money in a more reliable controller.

This controller is ok with practice. The control stick is VERY sensitive, and the grip takes a little bit to get used to. With some practice and use it is a good controller, and it looks nice, too. I am grateful for companies like Retro-Bit that make new products for older systems, and their products are almost always a good by.

I used to own an N64, and one of the flaws with that machine was the controller joystick. Use it enough and the thing eventually bends out of its original place, and then the controller doesn't work as well as it should and becomes useless for a lot of games. That made buying used controllers a no option. With this, the joystick was perfect, and even reminds me of a gamecube joystick, which is great. Although I no longer have my N64, I do have a cable that allows me to use the controller on my laptop for games, and even though it's not an official controller, it still works with that plugin.

Some of the reviews here don't make any sense so I figured I'd leave some accurate feedback for this controller. First of all this is an N64 controller, not a classic controller for the Wii or Gamecube. Second of all, it works just fine. I didn't notice any sensory problems with the joystick or problems with the buttons. The joystick is a little loose, but it doesn't cause any issues. This controller fits just fine in your hand and doesn't feel any more awkward than the original felt. There is a "slow" button next to the start button as well as "set" and "clear" buttons next to the d-pad, but I find no use for them and they don't get in the way at all. All in all, its not perfect but its better than any used original controller you'll find.

I purchased this controller to use with my computer. I have an adapter that changes the standard N64 controller slot to a USB plug, but when windows tried to configure the controller, the controller thought one of the buttons was being constantly pressed, so it could not be calibrated, which means that the controller is absolutely worthless if you are planing to use it with a computer game. Don't make the mistake I made!
