This book just explains what NAET is and that a NAET practitioner can use his expertise to get rid of your allergies. If you are buying this book for self help, to learn what you can do to end your allergies - its not a good pick.

Here is an Answer for your Allergies!

When I opened my mail, this book "Say Good-bye to Your Allergies," was waiting for me. My friend sent this to me with a note. "This may be the answer to your problem".

Two weeks ago I had lunch with her at a Sea-food restaurant. Of course, I ordered fish and chips. I must have taken a couple of bites, I began itching all over. In a few minutes my lips swelled, eyelids became puffy. I took an antihistamine. It took about 30 minutes or so before I felt some relief. I couldn't afford to go to the emergency room, because by 5:00 p.m. I had to complete certain papers and show to my supervisor for his approval before the scheduled office meeting at 6:00 p.m. I felt very tired and sleepy. I had to interrupt the lunch and go home for an hour to sleep off the reaction from the fish as well as the antihistamine.

The cover had an eye-catching but pleasing color! The title looked very impressive. I thought to myself, "I wish this was true." I didn't believe a bit that an allergy was curable.

All my life I had suffered from various allergies. As a child I had taken allergy shots for years. Three years ago my doctor gave me this new allergy pill and it gave me some relief. So I stopped the allergy shots. I carried the pill with me always as a heart patient would carry nitroglycerine. I was very limited with what I ate. My doctor cautioned me about eating many foods which were very high on a traditional allergy testing. I avoided them very faithfully most of the time. Once in a while I cheated; then of course, I paid the price on those days.

So you can imagine my excitement about this book title. I immediately sat down to read it.

The organization of the book is excellent. The book is written in an easy to understand casual manner for a layman.

Foreword and preface were impressive. The author's struggle with her allergies and the experience about her difficult journey until she discovered this revolutionary treatment is shared in the preface. Her story could very well be mine before I received this new allergy pill three years ago. I knew this is not the way to live, depending on a drug to pull you out of a disaster, living in fear everyday of your life not knowing what is going to get you next. But this was better than nothing.

Introduction gives an overview about the book and this new treatment. I had never heard of NAET before. From reading the book I learned that she had discovered this in 1983 and practicing it ever since. She has also taught this treatment to 7000 medical practitioners but my doctor had never heard about this either. Otherwise he should have mentioned it to me. She has referred to her website to locate the nearest practitioner. Website:www.naet.com.

I immediately looked up for a practitioner near me and sure enough there was one within a mile from my work.

Chapter 1 gave definition of allergies, the author's views on allergies, possible causes, commonly encountered allergens, a list of usual allergic symptoms, a list of hidden symptoms, and a self-evaluation allergy check list. I scored very high on the evaluation. It felt as if she has chosen all my symptoms to create the list.

Chapter 2 introduced the NAET concept, a little explanation on how it was developed, also a glimpse into her unpublished research data and a few retrospective case evaluation reports on the effectiveness on commonly seen health disorders. Any lay person can understand the colorful illustration of the graphs.

Chapter 3 describes the categories of allergens, and how the allergens affect certain areas of the body, how the allergens affect different people differently. According to the author there is nothing like idiopathic or unknown cause for any health problem as we hear always in the allopathic medicine. She says, when the doctor does not know how to look for the cause of a particular problem, he/she cannot find the cause. Then the diagnosis will be " idiopathic" or due to an "unknown cause." The final stage of this diagnosis will be "Incurable." How true it is!

Chapter 4 gives you ways of detecting your own allergies and also gives some information on some relevant standard diagnostic tests.

Chapter 5 describes acupuncture energy meridians, nerve energy blockages and how the nerve energy blockages manifest into allergic symptoms and other allergy related health disorders.

Chapter 6 teaches the reader to self-test and detect allergies in various ways. This allergy testing can be used in testing young children to people at any age. This can be also used in testing animals.

Chapter 7 shows you how to live with your allergies, what can you do about it, and also gives some insight about the NAET allergens in the protocol.

Chapter 8 gives the self-help instructions with illustrations to overcome an acute allergic reaction. It also gives the reader valuable information to prevent medical emergencies and/or teach you to self-treat an acute reaction if in fact an emergency happened.

But the author discourages and cautions the reader from self-treating the allergens until the patient is treated for all the basic allergens with a well trained NAET practitioner because of the possibilities of severe anaphylactic reactions and side effects from not applying the treatments correctly. I totally agree with that and appreciate this WARNING.

Chapter 9 has many endorsements from successful, practicing NAET professionals from all over the world.

Chapter 10 has some truly amazing testimonials from NAET patients.

Overall, the book is very impressive. I read this 215 page book in two hours.

By the way I made an appointment the very next day after I read the book. I have completed 18 treatments so far. I don't have to take the allergy pills anymore. I can eat many foods once I dreaded even to touch including fish and shellfish. NAET works. I am very happy that I went to lunch with Margaret and reacted to fish in front of her. Otherwise I would never have discovered NAET.

5.0 out of 5 stars Discovering the value of NAET, August 20, 2003

This review is from: NAET: Say Good-Bye to Your Allergies (Paperback)
For several years I suffered severe gas, bloating, and lower abdominal pains. I went through medical tests and numerous acupuncture treatments, but nothing helped for long. When I noticed that my symptoms seemed to indicate an allergy to wheat, I tried avoiding bread and other wheat products and felt somewhat better. Then I overheard a conversation about food allergies and was lead to NAET. NAET isn't a magic wand, but it's probably as close as we can come to one.

I had long ago put aside any feelings of `Western superiority,' and I was determined that this would help. Those who can't allow that Western medicine doesn't have all the answers might prefer to continue and suffer in silence. But anyone interested in achieving a higher level of health and freedom from pain and allergies should buy and read this book. It will open your eyes to how many things around us can become allergens and the number of ways allergies manifest in our lives beyond sneezing and a stuffy nose.

My husband had to bend over a shopping cart with severe back pain within minutes of going into a Home Depot or Costco. After researching online, I thought his problem might be the halogen lighting, but NAET Muscle Response Testing revealed he was allergic to the chemical out-gassing from both packaging and products. Since being treated, he has never again experienced that pain.

And the progress I've seen with autistic children using NAET is absolutely thrilling. I believe that anyone who experiences unexplained pains or aversions to food, or even people, should be encouraged to read this book. It will open your eyes and your mind, if you let it.

5.0 out of 5 stars say good-bye to your allergies, July 22, 2003
This review is from: NAET: Say Good-Bye to Your Allergies (Paperback)
I suffered from severe food allergies since childhood. I got huge hives every time I ate fruit, corn, wheat, nuts, eggs, milk products, or soy beans. A friend gave me this book titled "Say Good-bye to Your Allergies" by Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad. When I read the book I didn't know if I believed it completely. Then I looked at the reviews here about her other books. Some of the book reviews on "Say Good-bye to Illness" gave me hope and gave me courage to try this drugless treatment. I didn't have anything to lose by trying the NAET treatment. So immediately I made an appointment with Mala, Dr. Devi's Sister. Dr. Devi does not work regularly. But her sister Dr. Mala is equally good. Luckily I live in L.A. After 7 treatments I am a new person now. I found out that Dr. Devi is doing NAET since 20 years. I wish somebody had told me about this treatment years ago. I wish there was some publicity about it. Like me there are millions of people suffering from allergies and they don't know where to look for help. I do not get hives anymore when I eat the foods I mentioned above. I even ate at a Mexican grill two days ago. I did fine. That is like a dream come true for me. If you have allergies please try this treatment. You will like it. There are many doctors all over the world trained by Dr. Devi in NAET. You can look up at their website for a NAET doctor who is closer to you on their website.

5.0 out of 5 stars NAET works, February 17, 2006
This review is from: NAET: Say Good-Bye to Your Allergies (Paperback)
I suffered from depression most of my life. I also had hay fever, and did the desensitizing with injections three times. (Every time I moved, the hay fever came back.) I was on prozac for years.

Out of curiosity, while living in California, I tried Devi Nambudripad's NAET treatments after reading her book and finding a practitioner. About the 4th or 5th treatement, for B vitamins, my life changed. No more prozac, no more depression. (I was also allergic to my ex-wife.) Yes, you can be allergic to a person. Its like when they walk into the room you have this feeling you wish they weren't there.

I took my children in for treatment, my son came off ritalin after 12 treatments. The real miracle story, my youngest, was born allergic to wheat, dairy and soy among other things. His mother had asthma when she was carrying him because of mold in the slab of our rental house. With adolesence, came asthma and inhalers. His pediatrician Aunt said get this boy on medication NOW! After NAET treatments, he is allergy free. No asthma, no allergies, and now a rising star playing his trumpet (at least in my opinion). As a teenager, he can now put away a frightening amout of pizza. Before it only made him terribly ill.

This technique works.

I suggest purchasing and reading this book if you have severe allergies, it helps to understand the process. The stories of others will inspire you in your healing.

Allergies are now optional. If you have them its because you choose to keep them. The beauty of the technique is that once you are cleared, you are done. You don't have the practitioner in your pocketbook for the rest of your life.

The self-help methods in the books only work if your allergies are moderate to mild, if you cannot clear them youself using these methods, then you probably should see a practitioner. I have learned to do full treatments myself just from reading all Dr. Devi's books, and Cutler's books, and combining that info. with what I've learned from the two practitioners I've gone to. The practitioners are not permitted to give you all the info. on how it works, and the books do not give you all the "secrets" either, but if you investigate it enought, you can piece it together. This is probably mostly for liability reasons. If you get only partially clear on an item, it can actually make your allergies seem worse temorarilly. This is called being "stuck on a treatment". You need to go back and finish clearing it the rest of the way. Once you clear an item all the way, you will feel wonderful. Being "stuck on a treatment" won't happen on mild allergies, but the self help won't clear you all the way except for on mild allergies anyways.

When my son and I first started receiving NAET treatments, we were going to a practitioner that didn't get us all the way clear, but we saw enough change to know that there was definately something to it. I have since switched to a different practitioner, one who does percentages - this makes all the difference in the world!! She is also an RN, so is more familiar with severe allergic reactions, and I trust her more. You may get a strong muscle test reading when you are at least 50% clear on something, but you may still have problems with the item until you get at least 70% or more clear. My practitioner treats to 100% on all items, and we are so much better now. I have also learned how to do a lot of it myself at home, which has sped up the process. My 8 yr old son who has been homeschooled his whole life due to his severe food allergies, some he could not even touch... is now enrolled to attend a charter school this coming fall. This has been an answer to prayer for us in a major way! It works, if you get the right practitioner. We were better on somethings, and worse on others until we found someone who would get us all the way clear on the allergens we had. My son has been able to re-introduce apples, chicken, watermelon, oranges, salad, vingar, many other foods, and even some candy for the holidays. He used to get welts when cat hair even touched him, but was able to play with a cat for over 20 minutes the other day with no reaction what so ever. We are thrilled! Don't give up, keep trying, and find a good practitioner who knows how to treat you to 100% clear.

For any doctor who is willing to put aside the allopathic western medicine bias against other alternative modes, this book can open your eyes as you learn about an incredibly effective tool to detect and treat illnesses naturally! I highly recommend it to anyone who suffers from any kind of discomfort or pain. Having seen many miracles in those for whom western medicine offers little or no hope, I've come to view this book as a doorway to a new knowledge of healing and health!

The idea behind this book is exceptionally appealing, but I was a bit disappointed in what I actually got. It is basically an advertisement for the NAET method of allergy removal. That method might very well do everything claimed, but I was hoping to get some insight into what I might do for MYSELF. That was missing. Instead, an introduction into the struggles of the author, some of the theory behind energy therapy, and a basic introduction into muscle testing. Past that, the reader is encouraged to find the nearest practitioner for actual allergic relief.

Thanks to Dr. Devi and her labors to get this treatment into the public arena. A should read book for anyone with allergies who have had enough of standard medicine that only treats symptoms over, and over, and over.
