The documentary was very well done. We enjoyed the bonus features almost more than the film itself for the people who weren't in the main feature. I'd love to see a sequel to this, as there was so much material and so many people not covered: "Underbird" Alan Kulwicki, who started on a shoestring and won the Winston Cup Championship, only to die in a plane crash less than five months later. The Jarretts: father Ned and son Dale, both Winston Cup Champions. The Labontes: brothers Terry and Bobby, both Winston Cup Champions. The racing brothers: Benny and Phil Parsons; Rusty, Mike and Kenny Wallace; Darrell and Michael Waltrip; Kyle and Kurt Busch. And so many more. More of the pioneers of the sport. "NASCAR: The Ride Of Their Lives" is a great start, but not nearly enough.

After watching this on CMT, I knew I had to own this movie. If you love NASCAR and know the history, or don't know a swaybar from a spoiler, you will be riveted by this movie which highlights the best times and the worst. It really pulls at your heartstrings and will impress any NASCAR novice.

I have been a NASCAR fan for 50 years.
I thought there would be more on the older drivers like Curtis Turner, Jr. Johnson, The Flocks & the Bakers etc.

An excellent film that is free of a lot of the hype that pads out so many other similarly themed documentaries. It is good to see that the Daytona 500 is not the be all and end all of what NASCAR is all about. As an Australian who has a keen interest in all forms of Motorsport this really sheds a light on a storied history we don't get a lot of coverage of in this country. I would recommend this to anyone who is keen to learn more about the roots of a sport that has created it's own identity in the sometimes faceless world of auto-racing. A more detailed and lengthy version would be most welcome as this was all too brief.

I own most of the NASCAR videos available. This is by far the best. Great content with actual meaningful interviews with the superstars of NASCAR along with comments from their friends & family and plenty of vintage film footage. Covers the early days up to the present with expertly timed music that makes watching this film very enjoyable. Kevin Costners voice lends a familiar tone to the story. Get this one and there will be nothing to regret!

If you're not familiar with the history of NASCAR or just getting into the sport. This is one of the best DVDs out there to help you understand how everything got started in the NASCAR world. Almost everything you want to know about NASCAR is mentioned in this DVD, though I think if it was longer they could've put in more about how NASCAR came about since 1948. I give this 3 stars out of 5.

This is a very great in depth look at the families and their struggles through the years. I enjoyed this one very much!

Just watched this on CMT and ran to the computer to see if it was on DVD.

Great gift my boyfriend loved it! I ordered it and it took a short time to ship. And it was a great dvd.

My son is a great fan of NASCAR. He loved this, and enjoyed the history.
