Easy to follow,
By Andreas Hedqvist (Swede in Germany) - See all my reviews
This review is from: MSC/NASTRAN Design Sensitivity and Optimization User's Guide (Textbook Binding)
As with all documentation from MacNeal-Schwendler this tutorial and handbook is straight forward and easy to follow. The book starts with a nice introduction on the subject followed by two chapters on design modeling and sensitivity, these are probably well known but serve as a good refresher and reemphasizer for the reader. The most valuable part of the book is within the last chapter with the example problems, these are not only well chosen but well explained as well. It should be pointed out that this book is for users of MSC/NASTRAN and not for the novice. If you have had some experience with the linear/static and dynamic aspects of MSC/NASTRAN I highly recommend that you get familiar with this great feature of NASTRAN. Getting familiar with the optimization routines will not only save you a great deal of time but enhance your overall appreciation of this great Tool. Don't worry about the linguistic complexities, my mother tongue is Swedish and I had no trouble whatsoever to follow this material.
