I've played three seasons in this game already and never get tired of it. I use the hardest setting to make it more challenging, just like in the real NBA games. Great graphics, realism. I love the announcers. I wish the crowd volume could be a bit louder though. Sometimes, it gets sooo quiet, there are literally no sound coming from the crowd. Menus take some time getting use to, but complete. This game completely dominate NBA Live series in every way.

Ok , if your like me and cant afford the best high end system your prone to get something like i have .
Emachine Dual Core 3.0GH 32 Bit System 2 Gigs Of Ram Nvidia DeForce 9500GT Graphics Card I have read many forums where the Graphics on this game seem like slow motion after fiddeling with the settings for many hours . And its true .... If you have a low end system you may experience this . But Heres the settings i found to work and make the game run like a charm . First of all make sure your antilaising is off on your graphics card settings in the control panel . Also set your Graphics card toward the Quality end of running games not towards performance if its avaliable to adjust ...if not dont worry about it . Now in the settings of the game , i found that if your video card is a good one like mine or better , you can set the game like this , but remember it a mixed bag of highs and lows to get the game to shine . Video Settings : 1920 x 1080 ( If your desktop is in this resolution ) Refresh Rate = 59 Windowed = OFF Vsinc = on MSAA = OFF MS Quality = N/A Crowd Detail = Medium Player = Medium ( This setting stumped me for a while ) ! Stadium = High Sideline Characters = On Texture Quality = Medium Depth = On Floor Glare = Off Be sure to set the Gameplay settings for ( Gamespeed to 50 to 75 for a really Fun Time ) Once you Once you get the game running Youll have a very fun game .

It is really great that 2kSports has brought the NBA and MLB back to PC Gamers. This is one of my first experiences playing a 2kSports game, having been playing NBA Live for most of the time. There are so many great features on here that EA Sports never put into their game, however there are other things in this game which hinders the fun.
First the postives. The 2k series is well known for its presenation and that is no different in this game. It really looks as if you are watching a game on TV. This is especially seen through the Association mode, which is basically like dynasty mode in EA games. During the game, you get score updates, league leader stats, playoff standing updates while there is a break in the action just like you are watching a TV broadcast. The graphics are mostly pretty fluid, albeit with a few hiccups in motion in some of the players. Also, the commentary is pretty good. It sounds more fluid like they are having a conversation. With a good graphics card, the stadium and players look pretty good to the real thing. If only 2kSports games had the ESPN integration again, now that would be amazing. The negatives are really in the gameplay, which is not the best place to have negatives. First, there is definitely something wrong with the AI in this game. At the default settings, the computer is really good no matter how great your defense is playing. Usually they will hit around 65-75% in field goals while you are hitting 45-55%. The AI usually hits mostly any shot open or in tight defense. This number is so distorted the game it makes it unplayable because the scores get so lobsided. Then when your team is on offense, even if your player is wide open they miss it. Fortunately, there are sliders to change the difficulty for the CPU to score and the user. I have most of the CPU and user sliders set at 45 and the game is more competitive, but I do see a high 60% scoring night for a CPU in some games. Another thing includes a fastbreak. Your players don't seem to run fast enough on a fastbreak. They seem to slow down a bit, which is a bit weird. Finally, rebounding is a problem too. Your CPU players don't seem to rebound, which allows the CPU team to get most of their offensive rebounds. Also, your players don't jump for your offensive rebounds as well. Sometimes this game can be really frustrating and unbearable to play with crappy gameplay. This game could be really good, but gameplay features really puts a bad experience on this game.

I have read many reviews about NBA 2K9 and NBA 2k10 and it ceases to amaze me what people complain about! Let me start this review by clearing up a couple of things:
1. DO NOT USE INTEGRATED GRAPHICS ON YOUR MOTHERBOARD!! Buying a video card is a must! I run NBA 2K10 with a Pentium 4! Yes, you read right, I have a pentium 4 2.8 ghz, 4 GB of ram, and a GeForce 9800 512 MB video Card and this game runs flawless. It makes me laugh every time I read a review that says something like "I bought a quad-core computer with 8GB of ram and I am using the integrated graphics on my motherboard and I cant understand why this game runs very slow and then crashes." My personal opinion is that RAM and VIDEO CARD are everything when it comes to gaming. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THIS GAME A POOR RATING DUE TO YOUR CRAPPY COMPUTER OR LACK OF COMPUTER SKILLS!! 2. BUY THE XBOX 360 CONTROLLER!!! This game is a mod of the xbox 360 version so it only makes sense to use the same controller. With NBA 2k9, I used a Logitech Rumblepad 2 controller and the buttons would never match up to what the game said. I learned my lesson and bought a Xbox controller with nba 2k10 and it makes the game 10 times better! HELPFUL HINT: You can buy a regular xbox 360 controller and download the drivers for it at microsoft's website. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY THE PC VERSION Controller. The only difference between the PC version is that it comes with the drivers on a disk in cheaper packaging. It is pretty easy to find a cheap used controller locally at a used video game store. 3. NBA 2K10 HAS FIXED MOST PROBLEMS THAT STEMMED FROM NBA 2k9! There finally is Online game play even though its limited, no more long updates before playing game, and, wow, there is a key code that came with this game! PHEW!! I feel better getting that off my chest. All I can say is you have to buy this game! It sets a new precedence for sport games and EA sports needs to take notes. The graphics are unbelievable! The flow of the game is the most realistic you will find. I will not bore you with all the cool features I love and hate because it is all personal preference. Are you still reading this review? STOP AND BUY THE GAME ALREADY!! ITS UNDER $20!

Worst Basketball Video Game I have ever played,
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: NBA 2K10 (DVD-ROM)
I bought this game for 5 bucks and it was still too much. The biggest and most frustrating problem in the game is defense. The players on your team stink at it and actually playing defense yourself just one on one is extremely difficult. What's annoying is that basketball video games have already figured this out. I've played many over the years and developers have known for more than a decade how to craft good basketball gameplay/defense. Despite this not being new ground by ANY stretch of the imagination, 2k Sports apparently STILL hasn't figured it out. Since a significant percentage of any basketball game is defense and since the defense on this game is really just that bad and finally since this isn't some new breakthrough - good basketball video games have been around for years, this game gets an F or a 1/5 stars. Apparently (and I didn't know this), NBA 2k's gameplay has been a joke for years. This was the first NBA 2k game I have ever bought.
There are an additional couple problems I should add that aren't as major as the defense but that are still bad. First, the response time of your players movement almost makes you feel like you're playing the game with slow lag. I can't really explain it. It's almost like the movements are completely delayed while the CPU players aren't. Second, you could have a player be Usain Bolt fast but when he's on the breakaway with the ball, it's almost as though the computer adds an invisible ball and chain to your player - he no longer can outrun anyone. This only happens on breakaways as far as I can see and only when you're the one running with the ball. This is the first game I've ever played where I would've felt completely embarrassed had I worked on it. Maybe I've just been lucky so far. I will never buy another 2k Sports game as long as I live.

Skip this version of 2K and you'll save yourself some frustration. In game, you'll miss wide open layups, wide open 10 footers, wide open... well everything! And that's on the second easiest level. I was losing games by an average of 20 points. I fooled around on the hardest level, somehow began hitting most of my shots, and won by 30! Of course, the next game I lost by 25, but you see where I'm going here. Life is better after putting this game away for good.

I loved the first NBA JAM when you could play D, NBA LIVE for PC 05-06, and 2K9 was very good, but this is the best bball game I've played. I've always frowned on 2K cuz I was a NBA LIVE guy and for those couple of years LIVE PC 05-06 was better IMO. Last year I finally crossed over to 2K with 2K9 I thought the game was very good, but I hated the music, the ugly menus, the player close ups looked like aliens, then you go online and it's a bunch of wanna be fake tough lil wayne gangsters that think forcing the ball every possesion with kobe or lebron makes them better than you. As well 2K9 just didn't have the bells and whistles I was used to with NBA LIVE.
So this year I bought NBA LIVE 10 for 49.99 and NBA 2K10 PC for 7.99 after rebate, Live was average, people are getting way to geeked for LIVE (the thing that LIVE did was threw in a bunch of player animations so they move properly now, no longer like robots, that's why people are jumping ship, they are shocked cuz it looks like real player movement and they assume that's why it's good without knowing what it is that is so much better, that's it, but they assume it's everything , when it isn't. The game is flawed it's easy to hit jumpers for 3 quarters until all the sudden the same jumpers stop going in in the 4th so you gotta drive. People are complaining about LIVE cuz you can abuse with a glitch step back 3 and they took out online clubs I have no idea what those are, but the bells and whistles are with 2K10 alone this year. Dynamic season looks like a great addition, but addidas live run is below average those are there two new features to the game. Finally, 2K10 PC is fantastic. I don't know about the PS3 version, but the demo was horrid I can understand why people say nba 2k9.5 cuz that's what that demo felt like). I really would rather have the PS3 version (because I have bluetooth and my hdtv), but I have a feeling this PC version is better, not playing the PS3 version other than the demo. Again the PC version plays much smoother than the PS3 version. That likely has something to do with it coming from a 360 build and not a ps3 build. The presentation is fantastic you open with a far shot of the court with the opening ceremonies of the host team then a close up of the superstar going thru his pre game routine, then to the starting lineups and the tip off. Shooting doesn't seem as difficult as it was last year as long as you are taking a smart shot, it's easier to drive and feed down low as well, the game has a nicer flow to it in my opinion. Defense is much improved no more lockdown control, but now you have perimeter control, you can smother guys which reminds me of old 05-06 PC NBA LIVE when LIVE was great. You have My player which is like another game in itself where you can start as a scrub in the pro summer leagues with your edited player and go to the d league or if you are good enough be drafted on an NBA team. The sound is a 10/10, the announcers are a 10/10, the NBA Today is brand new it's the real NBA season info up and coming games, slick looking graphics, slick menu graphics, full of features. It's a 10/10 game. I gave it a 4/5 on fun cuz I'd rather play it on the PS3 if I knew it was this good, lol. A 10/10 game. It just looks fantastic the whole package is slick. Oh the servers they stink once again, and the framerate at times online or off is a little jacked up, but the game is so good offline, and they are working on it, I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt it gets fixed, especially online play.

While gameplay is decent overall, still needs to be improved with a patch. The graphics are very good and presentation is good as well. Hopefully, As I write this the pending PC patch will improve on alot of this games flaws! Even with that being said, the game is worth a look as it is!

I hate this game because there was so much flaw to the game. You will miss easy layups on a fastbreak. If you try to block your opponents shot, you cant because your defender will run away when you try to block a shot. when you try to turbo on a fastbreak your player will slow down and the opponent will catch up.. I hate this game.. nba 2k10 pc game started out good with commentary but after a while the commentary goes away.. the game is horrible.. it seems like your opponent runs the same play over and over again in the same play ..so its easy to know what offensive play your opponent is doing. The game makes the opponent hard to stop it makes your opponent as if they never miss a shot.. while the game makes your team keep on missing shots...save your money and dont buy this game... dont buy this game because nba 2k10 pc game is slow on the computer.. i hate this game...

Don't waste your money on this game. I pre-ordered it since it is the only basketball sim (if you can call it that) for the PC. Game is flawed in every way. Online doesn't work right. Tons of glitches all over the place. Control is terrible as game is too busy using canned animations. Trying to control your player is like driving on ice. AI players on the other team hit everything - even out of their range. AI players on your team do the most idiotic things. I just can't even begin to list all the things wrong.
A patch to correct a ton of problems was promised last fall but has never materialized. Now, it seems 2K has simply started pretending the patch was never being developed. Just visit the 2KSports forums and review all the complaints about the game (or the ones they haven't deleted, anyway). Not worth $20. Not even worth $5. |
