Good gameplay, but lacks in some areas,

This review is from: NBA 2K2 (Video Game)
NBA 2K2 is a great addition to the Nintendo Game Cube lineup. It has a variety of modes including franchise, season, practice, and street (where you can play 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, or 5v5 and on a variety of street courts). The franchise mode is good because not only do you control the team during games, but you also act as their general manager, which is pretty fun. The whole game is great except for a few areas:1) COMPUTER PLAYRS ALWAYS SCORE FROM INSIDE THE PAINT 2) COMMENTARY IS VERY LOW 3) HARD TO FIND A GOOD CAMERA ANGLE These are my only problems with NBA 2K2. But get this game anyway, the game play is great and so are the updated rosters. Overall, NBA 2K2 is a very realistic and down-to-earth basketball game, so don't expect any Hot-Spots (NBA Courtside 2002) or other arcade-style basketball games. I hope this review helps you with your decision.

NBA 2K2 IS AWESOME!,
This review is from: NBA 2K2 (Video Game)
This is by far the best Sega Sports game and a great game considering this is Segas first for the GameCube. Basketball is my game and Sega's NBA 2K2 is definitely the best basketball video game available for any system. This game is plagued by only a few minor flaws, which barely affect the game at all. The gameplay is simply amazing. I like the idea of having a direct pass button on offense, and a button on defense to play defense like in real life shuffling your feet and all. Shooting is very easy and effective especially if you release the ball at the top of your jump shot. The graphics are great although not as good as EA's NBA Live 2002. The players are easily identified to their NBA counterpart and Allen Iverson has his Iverson shoes. The rosters are very up-to-date and if a trade happens don't worry about the game being out of date just go to customize to do the trade yourself. And when draft time comes around just create that player onto their new team. The Franchise mode is great. You get to lead your team through multiple seasons with trades, free agency, and retirements. You can also choose to play with the teams NBA rosters or do a fantasy draft where you can have any NBA players. The announcing is great although repetitive more times than not. When Iverson scores a lot they always say the same thing and are always saying the same thing usually twice a game, but they are still very realistic and actually seem to be watching the game unlike other games announcers. The only thing about this game that could have been made a little better are the graphics and the gameplay because when you post up you almost always get a wide open layup or step out of bounds for no reason at all. Overall this is the best basketball game available for the GameCube right now. This game for the GameCube is better than Live and is also available on the PS2, XBOX and Dreamcast.

A AWSOME BBALL GAME FOR GC (A 11 YEAR OLD GAMER),

This game is much better than NBA Courtside 2002 and it is more realistic. The audiance look more real because if u are at your home court and say u make a fancy dunk the audiance will get up off of their seats and cheer for u. U can play Street Ball in it and it is very fun. I guarantee u will never get bored of this game. I almost forgot u can play as bball legends from the 50s/60s, 70s east, 70s west, 80s east, 80s west and players in present time. Last fact u can also play as western and eastern all-stars... U should all know that. Buy this game and u wont want to take it back:)

The Best Bball Game on GC As of Now,
By NYK (NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: NBA 2K2 (Video Game)
NBA 2k2 beats out every other bball game on the market. Though it has minor flaws, like every game, overall it's just great. Everything is done pretty well, except the street mode.I think this is the only thing Sega has to change for 2k2. The street mode isn't that great; it's basically a regular game with less people. The courts aren't done perfectly, and in Rucker the stands are empty. I don't really need the street mode though. The franchise, create-a-player, and just plaing gameplay buys this game for me. And if u like good gameplay, franchise, and other features u should buy this game. This game really deserves a 4.5 but u can't put that in, so I rounded it up to 5.

A great game,but a few weak points!!,

This game is great!!! The replays are awesome but there are a few weak points. One of them is that the street part is very weak and I would strongley suggest getting NBA Street. Another thing is that it is really easy to foul, go out of bounds, etc. Other than that it's a great game and I would get it!!!!!!!!

Best Basketball game ever!,

Theres no words to describe how well Sega did on this sports title. No basketball title compares to NBA2K2. This game will keep you hooked until NBA2K3! You will definetly get your moneys worth if you are a big basketball fan or even if your a begginer. What you'll find in the game will be franchise mode where you can build your own team and manage it for years. Streetball where there are no rules and of course exhibition. You can practice your free throws, team plays, create players and teams and also play with legendary players like Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Ervin 'Magic' Johnson! If you want to save everything you do in the game I HIGHLY recommend getting 2 memory cards if you dont have any cause each option of play uses up about 46 of 59 blocks of memory.
