I got NBA Live in October last year, and was pretty impressed with it. It was a good game, and an improvement over the previous version (you can see what else I have to say about it in my review for NBA Live 06 for the Xbox). But, in December I decided to pick up NBA 2k6, because of the great reviews, the fact that I really enjoyed ESPN NBA 2k5, and because I just love basketball. This game made NBA Live 06 completely obselete to me. It's so much better in every aspect of the game. The only place where NBA Live has any advantage is the Superstar Abilities, which I actually loved. But NBA 2k6 made me forget about Superstar mode quickly. I would HIGHLY reccomend this game to any fan of basketball.

Pros:
+Shot Stick/Great Gameplay - The addition of the shot stick to this years game is a huge plus. For those who don't know, the shot stick allows you to shoot using the right thumbstick (if you don't like it, you can also just use the x button). The shot stick adds a much better feel of shooting a basketball, and allows you to change the angle of your shot (usually layups) easily. All other aspects of gameplay are great, and while they take a bit longer to get used to than in NBA Live, they end up being much better.

+Soundtrack - Some great underground rappers such as Aceyalone, Aesop Rock, Afu Ra, Blackalicious, Common (well, hes not so underground), Ghostface Killah, Hieroglyphics, Jean Grae, Little Brother, Lyrics Born, Skillz, The Roots & Zion I make this one of the best video game soundtracks in years. My personal favorites are 'Carlonia Agents' - Little Brother, 'Ride' - Zion I, 'Set It' - The Roots, 'Milk Em' - Ghostface & 'Excellent' - Blackalicious. What I find weird, though, is that the song 'God Of Rap', by Afu Ra, is in both NBA 2k6 & NBA Live 06. I mean, its a good song, but isn't that a bit weird?

+Import Draft Class From College Hoops 2k6 - One of the best features in the game is the ability to import the draft class from College Hoops 2k6. Of course, you'll need to BUY College Hoops 2k6 first (which I HIGHLY reccomend), and finish a season, but it's worth it.

+Depth of Assosiation Mode - Player development, weekly practice, scouting, trades, budgeting...All of it is done VERY well, and there is lots to do. Another reason why this game is perfect for huge basketball fans.

+Graphics - The best looking basketball game ever. Period.

Cons:
-Create A Player/Player Editing - Not enough options, could of been a lot better. Seems a bit sloppy, like they put it together at the last minute.

NBA 2k6 is just a great game for any fan of basketball. If you're a more casual fan, and have enjoyed the NBA Live franchise over the years, you can't go wrong with NBA Live, but I would still reccomend 2k6 over it. For everyone else, buy this game. You won't be dissapointed.

NBA 2K6 is, quite simply, one of the best Basketball games I've ever played! I thought last year's version was good but 2K sports actually found a way to improve upon it! The animations are smoother than ever and the new shooting mechanics are a cool new addition. Using the right thumb stick to shoot is much more intuitive than you'd think but mastering it does take practice. However, this new feature now allows you to choose which hand your player shoots with based on the situation! See a defender coming from the right to swat your layup? Shoot it with your left hand so it's out of his reach! No game has ever given this much control over your shot selection. A few years ago, I though it was a stroke of genius when NBA Live separated the dunk/layup button and the jump shot button, but the shot scheme in NBA 2K6 is MUCH BETTER!

Trust me: don't waste your money on this year's NBA Live 2006! The quality of NBA Live has continued to go down over the last few years and this year's version is no different. NBA 2K6 is a much better basketball game is the closest most of us will get to actually being in the NBA!

With EA buying up all the licensces so they don't have to worry about competition, this may be Sega's last horah. This game blows Live out the water and always has since it debuted. I stopped buying Live after 2000 because it just the same ole crap from EA sports. At 29.99 this game is a steal, non pun intended.

This has to be the greatest and most fun basketball game I've ever played. It makes EA sports live look very stupid. Live 06 is basically and updated roster,with the same game play and players who look like they have been on a serious diet,then their real life counterparts. When you play the game you can't really get into it. NBA 2k6 on the other hand,is even better then last years game. Once you get use to the controls,you'll be really loving it. It's like your really on the court this year. If you want the real experience of the nba,get 2k6. If you want a joke that hasn't been good since LIVE 03 when MJ was on it, get live 06.

I can't believe I just said that because I never thought I would play a sports game that was better than madden 2004, but this is. You can change the music in the arena, become the gm of your favorite team(too bad mine is the knicks), it has great dunks, real gameplan, and the players look real as well. The only drawback is there is no multi player mode for "the association" which is what franchise mode is to madden. Regardless of that buy this game you will NOT regret it.

NBA Live now sucks, let me just start with that. When i first figured out the intensity of its sucking, i was worried that there would be no good nba games this year. Sega's NBA 2K... series was not very good. However, this year, the year that we gamers needed it most, sega stepped up it gameplay and makes an easily better game than nba live 2006.

This game has better graphics, and its controls are great with the new shot stick (right thumbstick). But the best improvement is its modes, such as The Association and Street. Association gives you total control over your team and street mode give you the freedom to test players and after doing so, school everybody (possibly in 1 on 1).

The bottomline is that this game has stepped it up to a whole new level.

Also, and i know it sounds weird but im not kidding, we should all boycott NBA Live if it buys out sega's NBA 2Ks. That would take the only good bball game away and we cant let that happen.

NBA 2k6 is the best basketball game that is currently out. It has a perfect simulation of what basketball games are actually like. I mean, if you're up against the Suns, they'll run the fast break a lot, and put up a lot of 3s. If you're playing the Heat, they'll be slashing to the basketball, and going for dunks and layups.

Also, there are many exciting modes in this game. 24/7 is where you can create your own baller and make him rise to the top. Plus, there is an awesome franchise mode which allows you to take full control of a season.

Another major thing that makes this game awesome, is the fact that you can actually get real player's shoes. I mean, sweet! You can create a character who plays with Nike Shox VC V on, or maybe some Lebron Zoom III.

This is the best sports game on the market and one of the best games currently out for the Xbox.

This series has long needed a fresh infusion of basketball IQ and solid human control to the gameplay and this year it finally got it. There's still issues with players getting stuck in canned animation that can be maddening at time and there are bugs that should have been resolved (an AI center can get locked into guarding an opponent's point guard for most of a game, for example), but this is by far the best representation of the NBA I've seen yet. (It's even better than the defunct Inside Drive series.)

Each team plays its own style of basketball and on different nights the same team will rely on different strategies to beat you depending on how you're playing defense. The presentation, while repetitive, is top notch in terms of feeling an NBA crowd (especially in the playoffs). It's not perfect, but the overall atmosphere works incredibly well.

The off the court stuff could still use some tweaking, unless you think Detroit's Antonio McDyess is worth trading the draft's second overall pick. At the end of day however, that's the kind of thing you'll see in most sports games.

This is a far better title than NBA Live and if there's a better on-the-court NBA sim out there I've yet to see it.

NBA 2K6 is one of the best basketball simulations I've ever played. The focus on running basketball plays really comes up front in this simulation. I really like the innovative shot stick control. It gives you total control of what you want your player doing at a particular point in the game. I really enjoy streetball mode really captures the aspect of real streetball. The road to the EBC is a great way to create your own player from the ashes and mold him into a superstar & dynasty mode is really deep. All in all NBA 2K6 is a must have for NBA simulation gamers and a great price.

This game is the best! I play 24/7 road to the ebc and its lots of fun! My dunks are great and i love how you could make no reaching fouls and no charging fouls. Buyers buy this game. You won't be sorry about this. I'm serious! It's a really fun game! You could choose teams and change the lineups! I have no problems at all about this game!
