Since I found out what games were launching with the PSP, NBA was one of the ones on my list. Even after Gamespot and other pre-review sites smashed it, I thought it still may be good. The first day I had it, I was very skeptical. I was thinking that it really wasnt that good, and I was thinking of returning it. But then, after about 4 games, I got used to gameplay, most importantly the shooting, and the game turned around. It became a very fast paced and fun game, even against the computer. While it doesnt compare to ESPN NBA Basketaball 2k5 (Best basketball sim ever), it still is great, especially for a game you can take anywhere. If you get it, keep at it for a few days, and youll realize that it is a great little game, that is very, very addicting.

Clearly 989, under pressure from Sony, rushed this game to market with little or no QA and testing. A good review of the rules of basketball - particularly the ridiculous back-court violations that occur in this game following blocked shots would have been a good start. Additionally, better play calling capabilities would make the game a bit more intelligent. Its fun and the graphics are good - but the being able to lob the ball the length of the court to Ray Allen who will hit a three everytime isn't the best mark of game design. Lot's of silly glitches and errors in this game and no attention to detail - players names aren't announced, no play-by-play put this game well below the standards set by other sports titles.

I am a huge NBA fan, and I love NBA games... but this truly disappointed me. I think the price is about 5 or 10 dollars too high. Yes, it does have 2 player, and it's the only game I have ever seen the Skills Challenge from the All-Star Weekend, but it was not very entertaining. For example, you have to have 4 minute quarters in Season Mode, while in a pickup game, you can choose. I really hate that because you only have about say a 35 point game, while all of the other teams get scores around 90 points. So, you don't get a fair chance at getting into the All-Star Game. (even though I made it) Here are my final ratings.

this game is fun i should say that the controls put this game down alot but its fun when your used too them and also if you take your mind off of the control thing you'll see this game is good the graphics are soo good for a small system like this the mini games are fun too i love doing the practice though cuz you can just throw the ball or dunk! forever! its really fun especialy when you do that you'll get the controls down in less than 30 minutes! sound is excellent! but still people won't like it or maybe hate it they should rent it first cuz like i said you hate it or love it but i loved it the first day it came out!
oh yeah the game will run better on firmware 1.50 and the graphcis are better too i only know that because i have two psp's


graphics 9.9/10 only good on firmware 1.50's and higher but other ones like 0.50 or lower is 7/10

This is the best game I have ever played. The graphics are like a PS2. This game is better than the NCAA March Madness by a long shot. this game will make you fell like you are actually at the game. My favorite tear is the Miami Heat. They ever have all the all stars be play when you play. I was sure right when I heard that there was going to be an nba game that I must have it.

BUT FOR AN AVERAGE GAMER, U WILL MASTER THE CONTROLS AFTER U PLAY 3 OR 4 GAMES. AFTER U MASTER THE CONTROLS U CAN DO DIFFERENT THINGS WITH THE GAME LIKE, TAKIN YOUR SKILLS TO THE GAME PAINT OR THE SKILLS CHANLANGE ! GET THIS GAME NOW!!

This is the worst NBA game I have ever played in my life. The gameplay is terrible, the options are terrible, just about everything is. I wasted 30 bucks on this.

I got this game before the release and i couldn't wait to play it! When i finally got my PSP, the game was addicting! There are many game modes including season,playoffs,practice,and even three mini games! The mini games are- Paint,which is a game where you take shots from all over the court for a certain amount of points; NBA skills challenge, an obstacle course that tests passing,shooting,and dribbling skills; and the three point contest,where up to 8 players compete trying to sink the most threes from all around the ark. The graphics are superb, with amazing detail on the close-ups of players faces. There are no trade rules, which enables you to build a dream team, or keep up with the real NBA's trading and signing. Overall, this game is a great value and has outstanding gameplay.

THis game is hot, and it is a lot of fun to play. It is, however, WAY too easy. The first day I got it I lost all of my games, but once i adjusted to the shooting buttons, I became the master (which isn't that hard). I had an 81-1 season with the ATLANTA HAWKS!! In the game (and in real life) they suck! I lost by one point to the mavericks when i let my 8 year old son play! his first time ever picking up the game, and he lost 71-72. I can just throw it up to Al Harrison for an easy three points, and it is like that with EVERY TEAM. I always play with the highest difficulty, and always win by 30 or 40 points. I get bored just throwing the ball to my wing man and scoring every single time. i highly reccommend waiting for a better NBA game to come out. The mini games are alright and online could be a bit better...nobody is ever on. Save your money for Coded Arms, which will be the best PSP game ever, or just buy a new NBA game when it comes out cuz this one gets old fast.

Who designed this game? They didn't seem to get all the rules right. For instance what they consider a backcourt violation is totally wrong, when an opposing player knocks the ball out of your hand and you retrieve it in the backcourt, that should not be a violation. Get the rules right and this game could be better. Playcalling is also not so great.
