5.0 out of 5 stars Bryant is on the Run!
To tell the truth I really don't like KOBE BRYANT as a player but I give credit where credit is do. Courtside 20002 has the best graphics, tight crossovers, and awesome gameplay = it's just off the charts. I've played all of the courtsides, NBA lives, NBA 2k & 2k2 but Kobe Bryant's game takes the TIP. Courtside 2002 makes live and NBA Live 2002 and NBA 2k2...

NBA Courtside's an entertaining game, a very easy game to learn and play. The biggest drawback of this game is that it's just too simple. There's practically no skill involved in playing this game. There's very little control over dunks, blocks, shooting, and everything else.

The players and their likenesses are in the game, but in terms of skill and everything...

I've played all of the courtsides, NBA lives, NBA 2k & 2k2 but Kobe Bryant's game takes the TIP. Courtside 2002 makes live and NBA Live 2002 and NBA 2k2 look...[weak]. You can play on a regular street court. The players look like they do in real life. Its goods as Vince Carters dunks, to Tim Duncan's spin, to Gary Payton and Eddie Jones defense, to Mutumbo's blocks, to Shaq's monster Slams, all the way to Jordan's Buzzer beaters and more. Clearly the best basketball game ever until Kobe Bryant makes COURTSIDE 2003.

5.0 out of 5 stars Video Games Reviewer, February 20, 2002
This review is from: NBA Courtside 2002 GameCube DISC ONLY (Video Game)
Kobe Bryant: NBA Courtside 2002 is an excellent basketball game for the Nintendo GameCube. The game features a full NBA license with every team and basically every player in the league. The game features many different game modes: Quick Play, Arcade Play, NBA Season, and a skills mode consisting of a 3 point contest and practice mode. NBA seasons can be broken down into number of games for the season, number of games in the playoffs, minutes per quarter, trade deadline, fantasy drafts, and many many other features. One of the best features of this game is an excellent create a player mode. Courtside's create a player mode allows you to create a player by choosing their face, hair, height, size, and many other features all the way down to tattoos and the amount of tape on their fingers. Once the players are created, you have an allotted amount of points to divide up between many different categories such as: defensive, dribbling, passing, dunking, shooting, 3-point shooting, stealing, and many more. Once the players have used up their allotted point totals, you have to go into the regular game and use your newly created players and have them gain and build up more point for you to again disperse between the different categories. This feature alone makes the replay value on this game second to none. It is great to take your created players who are basically terrible at the start of the season and build them up into a great team. A full license, great graphics, great player control, tons of customizing options, and a create a player system that begs to be played over and over again, makes Kobe Bryant: NBA Courtside 2002 the best basketball game available for the Nintendo GameCube and a great game to add to your GameCube Library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best basketball game out for any system!, March 2, 2002

I love this game! This is some of the best face mapping I have ever seen in my life. It looks like you are watching a real basketball game. The gameplay is a blast with an option of 5 on 5 on a real court or 3 on 3 on a street court. This is a must buy!...

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't compare this to 2k!, January 17, 2002
This review is from: NBA Courtside 2002 GameCube DISC ONLY (Video Game)
ok, well I have to say, this game isn't about Kobe Bryant to stop mentioning his name, he is just on the cover deal with it. Also stop comparing this game to NBA2K1 or 2K2. I personally think 2k is better yes but these are 2 totally different games. This game deserves alot more recognition than it is getting, anyone who has played any version of this title should see how much potential it has. The gameplay is a good and actually the players don't look that good compared to some other games, yes in this case I will mention 2K. The dunks are crazy in this game but the graphics were a dissapointment, for Nintendo Gamecube I thought this game looked kinda choppy. It reminds me a bit of Playstation because the players arms and so look blocky. Other than that I really think everyone who owns a Gamecube and is a basketball fan should try this game out wheter you like or hate Kobe Bryant.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best bball game out there, May 23, 2002
This review is from: NBA Courtside 2002 GameCube DISC ONLY (Video Game)
Before buying this game I went across all the reviews for it, both by editors and by normal people like myself. I noticed that for the most part it was 50/50, some prefer courtside, while others say 2k2 is the best basketball game available. I decided to get Courtside and im glad I did, this is the best basketball game on any platform, I know this because I decided to rent 2k2 so I could compare them, there is no comparison. Courtside has better gameplay and also better graphics, it even has better camera angles. The areas it lacks in arent that big a deal in my view, the commentary is weak, but really who cares? I dont buy a basketball game to hear how the announcer discribes a play, or how the music sounds at the initial screen. This is a must have for any hoops fan, or just a sports fan in general.

NBA Courtside's an entertaining game, a very easy game to learn and play. The biggest drawback of this game is that it's just too simple. There's practically no skill involved in playing this game. There's very little control over dunks, blocks, shooting, and everything else.

The players and their likenesses are in the game, but in terms of skill and everything else, it's just not there. Players' real-life talents and abilities are not relfected in the game, with the exception of Shaq being a poor free-thrower.

The graphics are also very generic. The crowd looks very bad. The two announcers are those who call Clippers games, and are decent, but their limited phrases get old really fast.

One of the minor redeeming qualities of the game is that you can create your own player. This feature is great in that you can customize a large list of physical characteristics about the player. Of course, when it comes to basketball skills, the attributes aren't specific enough to make a noticable impact on game-play.

So if you're looking for a very simple, unrealistic but easy-to-play basketball game without much customization, this one's for you! If you'd actually like skill to be involved in the outcome of a game, look elsewhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kobe endorses an Excellent game, July 19, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: NBA Courtside 2002 GameCube DISC ONLY (Video Game)
This is an excellent game for those who like simulation. Hey why not try to let the Warriors or bulls taste NBA glory and win a title. The game also features a kool arcade mode.
I recommend this to those who like simulation games cuz that's where it's strong.
One of my major stresses is that the players don't inbound the ball after a basket quick enough. that sorta slows down a team making a run and takes up clock time too.
overall GREAT GAME worth a buy.

I really enjoyed this game for my Nintendo 64, and now I enjoy it even more for my Gamecube. The difficulty levels are accurate, easy is very easy, medium is more chalenging etc..., so you can really play at whatever difficulty you're in the mood for. The graphics are also very detailed, and every player's face in the game looks exactly how the actual players look. The only flaws are the commentary, you can't do practice mode with your fantasy draft team, and the season mode doesn't have an all star break where you can play in the all star game and have a three point contest, other then that, I would reccomend purchasing this. It's alot better then NBA Live or Nba Street.

5.0 out of 5 stars IT RULES!!!!!!!!, January 22, 2002

I bought this game the day it came out. I was a little worried because NBA 2k2 was coming out. I'm glad I got this game. After I started playing I couldn't stop. I rented NBA 2k2 and I could not stand it. Courtsides controls are so loose compared to NBA 2k2's. The graphics on Courtside are a million times better, literally. Get Courtside. You'll love it!
