5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, quite realistic!
What was cool though was highly detailed people in the crowd and close-ups on EVERY player's face is very detailed! This game is fun, I recommend. And if you want, get NBA Inside Drive 2002 also!

3.0 out of 5 stars An ok game
If you are looking for a realistic basketball game, NBA Inside Drive is NOT the game for you. It feels like an arcade game, and doesn't live up to the realism I enjoyed with Sega's NBA 2K3. This game, however, is fun to play for short spurts of time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best game this year., April 2, 2004
This review is from: NBA Inside Drive 2004 (Video Game)
This game is all around great, except for a couple of flaws.
I't should have a better trade option, rookies should have been rated a little higher, speed should have been a little faster. Over all this game is graphicaly the best. Also player contact is always a plus and the post moves are awesome.NOW WE NEED NCAA INSIDE DRIVE!

If you liked NBA Inside Drive 2003, then you will love this one because it is the same thing just revamped and with a lot of new things and options. Get this game if you are a fan of the Inside Drive series, you have nothing to worry about!!!! Although the only thing that pisses me off is that you can't get young Michael Jordan in secret players and i dont know who the secret players are because i can find the codes for them!!!!! SO IT'S A GREAT GAME, JUST GET IT IF YOU LOVE INSIDE DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S THE BEST NBA GAME OUT THERE!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars SIMPLY AMAZING, December 18, 2003

This game is 1000000 times better than NBA Live 2004 on xbox. This game has soo much better graphics. While the new camera angle takes a lot to get used to, for those of you with 2002 or 2003, it becomes better than the older one. The ratings are better than Live and it has original stuff such as keeping track of double doubles and 40pt games. I think this is a terrific game and i highly recomend it. This also has XBOX Live capabilites and it rocks. GO BUY IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST of the Best, May 15, 2004

This game rocks!! My absolute favorite part is that you control the game. That's right: YOU!!!!!! Don't like your favorite player's rating? That's perfectly all right, because you can change the rating. There is a general manager option on the menu. Select that and go to edit/delete players. Choose anyone YOU want and change that person's rating. It's awesome!!!!! The graphics are just totally great and the only thing I don't like is that the announcers suck.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fy!!!, February 6, 2004

This review is from: NBA Inside Drive 2004 (Video Game)
Ok where to start? This game is by far the best basketball game out BY FAR! It has excellent game play the graphics are tight, and it has many options to get the game where you want it be. The rating of the players is rather distubing though, the only people that got the rating that they diserve was Kobe and Shaq, they did all of the rookies like Carmello anthony and TJ ford dirty, they gave Lebron a half way descent rating at 83, but still as you can see not correct. Even the old school vertans didn't get a good rating such as Paul Pierce, T-Mac, and AI. But this is an easy fix you just edit the player and there game really steps up. The a.i on the game is not particularlly difficult but they have an option where you can make the players Shoot better 2's or 3's, Block more, Steal more, Run faster, and shoot better freethrows, you also can do this to yourself ( but I find the game interesting when I'm at a disadvantge) All and all this game is the best basketball ever, I'm waiting on the NCAA inside drive to drop they need to make that game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome block., January 29, 2004
A Kid's Review

You don't have to be facing a player to get a block. You could come running from the side of a player, and if you time your jump right, block the ball sideways away. Plays like this are AWESOME. Player lays the ball up, and in return you block it and bounce it off the board. Try that with NBA live 2004. You can't. Only with this game.

3.0 out of 5 stars An ok game, March 1, 2004

If you are looking for a realistic basketball game, NBA Inside Drive is NOT the game for you. It feels like an arcade game, and doesn't live up to the realism I enjoyed with Sega's NBA 2K3. This game, however, is fun to play for short spurts of time.

Some cons:

* Just about every play you can get a layup or dunk. If you just wait until the big man cuts, or get a fast player and run around enough to pick off your man, you can get in-close shots ALL THE TIME. In a typical game my team will shoot ~90%.

* The announcers SUCK. Seriously, of all the basketball games I've played, this is the worst and most annoying announcing. I play with the volume off. The announcers use terms and sayings I've never heard on the courts I play at, or on TV, like saying "Nobody does the vodoo like you do," after a good play. Or using the word "jimmy" as slang for a jump shot.

* The practice options are pathetic. You can go "practice," but all this amounts to is having ONE of your teammates work with the ball. In NBA 2K3, for example, they had practice where you could have your entire team out there, and call offensive plays to see how the players moved about and such.

* There are a lot of steals if you try interior passes. Virtually all the time they bullet the pass on in, and if a guy is fronting a player, he steals it. There's a button to lob in a pass, but I've found that it doesn't always lob it in, about half the time it bullet passes it in, resulting in a guaranteed turnover.

The game does have some pluses - it is fun, for a while. NBA 2K3 had some really annoying game play features that NBA Inside Drive doesn't suffer from.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good game. Live 05 , 04 are mush better. Not worth it, November 21, 2004

I think this game was an okay game. It will be better if they were in allstar challenge games like dunking or 3 point shootout. The graphics are pretty good. But Nba live is better because everyshot goes in in Nba inside drive and on live it doesnt so it seems more realistic.

2.0 out of 5 stars What happened Microsoft?, December 1, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: NBA Inside Drive 2004 (Video Game)
Although the original Inside Drive was given average ratings by most publications, I found it somewhat original and the gameplay was exciting. Being from the Seattle area, the collaboration of Kevin Collabro and Marques Johnson gave it an extra flair missing from other games. I was excited to play the 2004 edition and expected little change in the general engine. To my disappointment, not only was it changed it was changed for the worst. The controls were so sloppy that I thought my controller was broken. The AI was so bad that I would have had more competition if I had played 2 player mode without a 2nd player. Online play was supposedly what would separate the game from the others especially the EA Sports franchise, however, the AI was so bad that most players just cherry pick and fast break the whole time to run up the score, taking away the strategy and excitement of running an offense and "finding the open man." Something most "non-basketball" players know nothing about. For arcade style play, I suppose this game suffices. But for pure basketball sim and strategists, this game is a waste of money. The franchise mode still lacks depth and being able to trade a journeyman for a lottery pick is NOT realistic. If you know anything about basketball and know a little more than NBA Jam Session techniques, get ESPN Basketball and save some money.
