For a person not located in the USA and not familiar with all the comings and goings in the NBA this was a good read. Very easy to read and well constructed. Some humorous and insightful observations of many of the non player personnel involved in the NBA gives this book a high rating in my view. In parts a bit repetitive but overall I really enjoyed the book

This book has provided hours of entertainment for my son and husband to quiz each other in basketball trivia. A perfect gift for any NBA fan. You won't find it on your son's Christmas list, but he will be thrilled that you include it!

Dave Twardzik's Chapter, Top 10 ABA Players You Probably Never Heard Of, was enough to entice me to buy this book. As an ABA fan growing up, I had heard of and fondly recalled all 10 of them, but it was nice to read about them again and read the justifications of Twardzik, who played against all of them in the ABA before becoming the starting point guard for the 1977 NBA champion Portland Trail Blazers after the ABA folded, for picking them.

There are many other great lists, including the Most Impactful People for nearly every NBA franchise, the top defensive players, top rebounders and top point guards of all time, and finally the Top 100 NBA Players of All Time. Many longtime pro basketball writers and former players whom I greatly respect, such as Peter Vecsey, Bob Ryan, Rick Barry and Billy Cunningham, present their opinions. Of course I didn't agree with all their picks, but I enjoyed reading the logic behind them. If you are a true pro basketball fan, you will too.

This is a fantastic book. I have read and reread it several times. I was an early NBA fan from 1951 on and I love to read about the early stars. Nearly every phase of the game is covered with the top 10 in every category. I fully agreed with most of the selections by the various coaches. I reccommend this book to any and all NBA fans and there followers. The growth of pro basketball has been amazing. Often times one of the clubs would fail and the NBA was reduced to 8 teamms at one time. Today they have 30 teams and all are making money and look good. This NBA book covers all the big expansion moves by the teams. Everyone should read it!!

SIncerely,
David O Karickhoff

Format: Paperback
This book is literally jam packed full of names, legends and unknowns in the NBA. What I found fascinating about the book was that you do not need to be just an NBA fan to enjoy its content; for the content is from every single spectrum of the game--great arenas, great players, great college players who made it big time, great ABA, college teams, semi-pro, left handed shooters, GM's, best place to play a game, best cheerleaders--it just keeps going and going. A ton of the names you will be familiar with, however the names you never heard of were very insightful and great to learn a little about stats and teams of the past--before 3 pointers, before a long NBA season. This book is very thought out--in that so many people, sports writers, coaches, players past and present were seen as enjoying composing this book into a master piece of lists. Grab this book and enjoy reading the make up of what the NBA is today, and learn who all contributed to the game we all know it to be.
