Yes the jump shots are more realistic looking than in '08, as are the end of game stats across the board. The computer seems smarter, and the addition of a simple alley oop move is a big plus. FIBA and WNBA teams are accounted for.

However, on the downside, the "diving for a steal" move is bothersome, as is the bland look of the on-court game and the unbelievable ease with which one can commit a turnover. One more bad thing - I've found myself many times stealing the ball or grabbing a rebound only to find my player shooting the ball across the court before I can think about a single dribble.

I miss the many team jersey options 08. Maybe these are unlockables?

I happened to notice that only some of the commentary by the announcers is new; most is recycled. It's more polished in the sense that their observations are more accurate for situations such as steals, out-of-bounds deflections, and so forth.

Will the game grow on me? Probably. Should they make another version for '10? Definitely. But only if it looks graphically more like the XBox versions, incorporates the new Dynamic DNA feature.

I still plan on playing this when I need a break from Madden '09 and Wii Fit. So not a loss. But it didn't shine any holy blue light on my video game adventures either.

Sometimes when people review a game, or anything else, there perception is tainted before they ever begin the review. For people who buy the new release every year, then this game may not be worth the money. That's fine, but I wouldn't expect the "same game" to be totally different year after year. Also if '08 was good and '09 is just like '08, then doesn't that suggest that '09 is a pretty good game as well. Now this isn't a knock on people who purchase the same game every year and I'm sure that EA sports is more than happy you buy the same game every year, but that is not me. That being said lets review NBA Live '09 based solely on NBA Live '09. I use the component high definition cable and the graphics are probably a B+. They could be better, but the colors are very vivid and it is easy to spot the players you know from real life. The game gives you the option of controlling it several ways, including using the remote and the nunchuk, or turning the remote sideways and playing in a classic controller form. But even using the controller in a classic way, you can still use the motion sensor for various moves such as crossover dribble and ally opp. I have heard some say that it is to easy to steal the ball and have the ball stolen, I have to disagree. The only time I have trouble with the ball being stolen is if I try to go to the basket and the lane is crowded. If I try to run through two or three defenders of course I stand a chance of the ball being stolen. One thing I love about this game is the inbound pass. The pass button controls throwing the ball in play, but other than that you are controlling the person the ball is being thrown to. This makes it very realistic and give you the ability to lose the defender when throwing the ball in for play. Overall I love this game and it is one of my favorite EA Sports games. It is definately worth $[...].

This has been great fun for our son and his buddies. It is a huge step up from the previous Wii basketball game that he has owned called "Kidz Basketball" since he can pretend to be a real NBA player instead of being a cartoon character with a funny name. It is very easy to score points and break records unconceivable in NBA; but while this can be a negative for a purist, to the kids it is a lot more exciting to be able to do so. The commentary in the background along with the arena sound effects adds to the excitement.

I really enjoyed playing this game. I am not a serious gamer and so, I was looking for something that is easy for me to understand and play. This one was perfect in that sense. I also found the same problem like many other reviewers where your player all of a sudden tries to shoot a 3-pointer from the other end of the court, even though you didn't do anything with the remote. Other than that, I don't have any complains.

NBA Live 09 is a product of a incredibly successful company completely misjudging what has made the Wii popular. Apparently many other game producers have too. A recent online article proclaimed that the Wii had more poorly rated games than either of the other competing consoles.

Why? I think it is because of the incredible motion sensitive remote controls. These allow for some incredible games if the technologyis built into the game correctly. However, I think that many companies like EA sports believed that his motion technology would be great, no matter what game it is on. So, EA sports removed a bunch of features like Franchise mode and tacked on some kind of all play which supposedly maked it easier for the casual gamer to play NBA Live 09.

I don't think casual gamers care about NBA Live 09. The market for this game is adults who have bougut a Wii for themselves or their kids because it is a great family system, but the adults still want to have fun too. NBA Live is just a dumbed down version of the game. It DOES NOT contain NBA DNA or whatever the product description says. I imagine the Wii version is missing many other features as well.

The screens and navigation are horribly designed and were done far better on the NBA Live 96 I owned for my Super Nintendo.

There is some enjoyment in playing a regular game, but after playing several, the game became quite repitive. And the Wii motion controls add nothing to the game since the game was so poorly designed anyway.

Game designers for the Wii need to understand that the motion technology will not sell the game alone. The game needs to have features comparable to XBox 360 or Playstation 3, or else no one will buy it.

This is an overall fun game. It's easy enough for the inexperienced gamer. But that's just it. Maybe it's a little too easy. I put myself up against the 3rd level of the 4 and I still see myself scoring over 200 points in a 10 minute quarter game. The other downside is that when you try to steal you get called for penalties 50% of the time. On the upsides though it's a fun game to play with friends and it has a nice basketball experience. I would recommend it but it's definitely not a must get game.

if u are looking for a lil' time killer with ur friends without a really good graphics it is, it isn't a great simulator i think it's OK

This was purchased by my daughter. She is a basketball fanatic. She is very happy with the game. Hopes to be purchasing some others in the future she has been looking at. Good price, too.

I wished I could say this game was fun and I really enjoyed it but that would be a lie. Some of wii controls are interesting but wierd, paling around with your friends it ain't bad but single player is difficult and silly. You can also unplug the nunchuck and hold the control sideways to play, which is easier, but you are still limited. I still prefer to play my nba live 07 on the ps2 to this piece of junk. I love my wii but just not for sports games.

My grandson who is 6 wanted this game in the worst way. I ordered it the first time from one vendor and after three weeks they said that it was lost in the mail. Next I ordered from Hastings and it came right away like the other two games I purchased from there. My grandson was off the wall crazy to finally receive it. He brought it home to use on his wii and the game wouldnt work. I typed an email to the company and they never emailed me back. Very upset with this purchase!!! And the company!!!!
Never will order another one online again!!!!
