Subtle but better improvements over NBA Live 2000,
By Beatle23 "beatle23" (Evanston, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: NBA Live 2001 (Video Game)
If you liked NBA Live 2000, you'll definitely love 2001. The look and the feel of the games is pretty much the same. For example, there are more details to the stadiums here and there which you will notice. The game commentary is much improved. You'll hear accurate and abundant comments by the two commentators. At times they even interact with each other in dialogue. The play is the same, but you'll have to get used to timing your jump shots. It seems the time they jump in the air is a little less. Other than that, the feel of the game is pretty much the same. One new and very welcome feature is the Challenges. For those who are bored with playing seasons over and over again, these Challenges will keep us entertained. With incentives such as the ABA basketball, West Coast outdoor courts, afro's, eye patches, etc... the Challenges will keep us busy. Again we have the one on one with Jordan with the classic players once again. The enhancements are subtle, but they do make a big difference for 2001. If you thought 2000 was a good b-ball game, you will for sure love 2001.

PSX's best b-ball game ever,
By "ibuysel" (CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: NBA Live 2001 (Video Game)
I heard that this is PS's last of NBA live series because it'll probably continue onto PS2 series only next year. I've been a big time NBA live fan since '95 and this is by far the most complete game ever created in PS. Although it hasn't improved dramatically from its precedessor, it's got improved graphix, animation and the one I like the most is balls rattling in instead of always swish after swish when I'm on fire. Also double teaming is very effective on 3 pt shooters (because last year I made 16 straight 3 pointers against double or triple team in superstar level). anyways, it also added new moves such as up and under, reverse layup and a running jumpshot(floater). The only thing that they've taken out from last year's was a half time show! what a bummer! But in overall it's about 25% improved game from last year's so you decide for yourself if it's worth buying or not. Okay gotta go bye!

NBA Live 2000 Clone,
By Sher Ali Chaudhry (Flushing, New York United States) - See all my reviews

One good thing about this game is that it includes the *NEW* ROOKIES! HOWEVER, it doesnt show their faces when you trade them and etc. This year, there are a few more legends and for those of you who buy it for the graphics or those high flying dunks seen in the advertisements, dont buy this game! I've had NBA Live 96 to 2001, and this game isn't a big improvement over 2000. Sure there is a Challenge mode, but it's to long and it becomes boring after a while. I even think NBA Shootout '01 will be better then this. Like all the years, the camera angles make the gameplay extremely hard. And you need glasses to recognize faces.(I broke my glasses). So if you have 2000, dont buy this game. Buy Shootout if you want to...If it's in the game, it MIGHT be in the game...And oh yeah, don't think all those arguments with the refs over the calls are any good, the players only have one reaction to those calls, and it takes 5-10 seconds to load up that little flick.
