Enhanced CPU logic and AI allow for more effective fast breaks, with open players cutting to the hoop for scoring opportunities, and the fine-tuned turbo buttons afford players a wider array of in-game strategies. There are also enhanced dribbling and player movements, player-specific signature moves, and more responsive shot blocking. In addition, real NBA coaches roam the sidelines, and there is dramatic camera coverage of in-game and out-of-play sequences. You will hear what its like to be on the court with all-new player calls, as well as court and arena sound effects. Classic jerseys give gamers a chance to relive their teams glory days in authentic gear.

A Major Improvement,
By RLD "rd1241" (Scottsdale, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: NBA Live 2003 (Video Game)
For basketball game fans, NBA Live had been a powerhouse for many years. Since around 1999 though, the series has seemed to drop off a lot in quality and in gameplay. The series' translastion into the new age systems (PS2, GC, XB) has been somewhat of a disappointment to say the least. I have been looking for a great basketball game for some time and I think I finally have it in NBA Live 2003. The graphics and the gameplay are major improvements over previous versions. Everything flows very well and the graphics are smooth and detailed. You can even see the crease in the backs of heads of players who sport shaved cuts! Playing is a lot of fun. The only problem is that the first few skill levels are too easy and that it seems the computer cannot miss at the end of games. Other than that, the action is terrific. The menus are also a major upgrade and are easy to navigate. Franchise mode is available and there are many features and stats to check out, from player contracts to fantasy drafts to the lottery, it is all there. If you enjoyed past NBA Live games for the new systems, you will love this game. It has been updated and redesigned. A lot of work was put into 2003 and it shows. If you are more of a fan of the NBA2K series, this game boasts many of the same features while offering better gameplay (in my opinion). Buy this game; you won't be disappointed.

Don't expect an exact sim,

This isn't exactly a simulation of the sport, but that does not mean that it is not fun. It is a blast to play, and the free style controls add a lot. It's a high offense, low defense, fast paced game, but not over the top like NBA Street. Multi-player is un-believably fun. So go create yourself as a player, and live your dream through the wonder of technology without getting all sweaty and out of breath.

AN AWESOME PIECE OF ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!!!!!DUUUDE!!!!!,

This game is really cool. The funnest part is to see your team win the finals. I suggest that you go right to playing playoffs and then seasons and then if you're ready, franchises. It is too fun to just play an exhibition with. You have to get into it and play different types. I suggest that a good team to start playing the game when you first get it with is the Nets. The Nets aren't the best but DEFINITELY aren't the worst. This way, you get used to playing with a team that isn't that good or bad. Starting with the Lakers or Mavs will expose you to teams that are really good. If you have to play someone being a team that is terrible, you will have some experience with a so-so team. The perfect example is the Nets. The perfect example of the Nets being so-so is them playing in real life after the All Star Break.
