I love this game. It has everything you need in a basketball game for its time. The gameplay is superb and i must say that none of today's ball games can compare to this game given the technology of the snes!!!!!!!!!!If you are a fan of sport games and want the best experience in playing a game you must give this a try. I still play this game and it is still fun even though i have an xbox 360!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been playing this game for a long time now and i still think it is the best basketball game ever made. I admit that today's ball games are far more superior in terms of graphics and options but for some reasons they couldn't stop me from playing nba live '96. This game is amazingly fun and addictive. The fun factor is way up there!!!!!!!! Once you start playing this game you just can't stop. For a super nintendo game this game is truly amazing. It has many options and features that made this game revolutionary when it came out way back in '95. It even has many hall of famers that you can unlock including His Airness!!!!!!!!!!!!This game has become gold in my opinion because it is the best and most innovative basketball game that EA has ever made!!!!!!!!!!

NBA LIVE '96 is the funniest game I have ever played! It has so many things that are cool such as the create player option and the ability to unlock secret players including Hall of Famers such as Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan! The music is the coolest I have ever heard in a basketball game! On the court players can do moves that look very cool! If you want a fun game to play this game is certainly one of them. This is a true sports classic and it's too good to miss!

This review is from: NBA Live 96 (Video Game)
NBA LIVE '96 is the best basketball game I have ever played. For some reason I like this game more than any other basketball games. Even though this game is over 10 years old it is still fun to play. This game is alot better than all the basketball games before and after it. Those new basketball games for the modern game machines such as NBA LIVE 05 aren't that fun to play.

NBA LIVE '96 IS THE ULTIMATE BASKETBALL GAME FOR THE SUPER NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, August 9, 2006
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: NBA Live 96 (Video Game)
This is my complete review of NBA LIVE '96 for the SUPER NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM.
OVERVIEW: NBA LIVE '96 is a basketball simulation game developed by HITMEN PRODUCTIONS and published by giant sports company ELECTRONIC ARTS Inc. This game is released in 1996 and has KIDS to ADULTS ESRB RATING. The game is also available in other platforms such as SEGA GENESIS, DOS, and PLAYSTATION ONE. This game is the second of four NBA LIVE SERIES released for the SUPER NINTENDO. The first one being NBA LIVE '95 and the last one being NBA LIVE '98. When you turn on the game you will hear the saying "EA Sports. It's in the game." Then the game starts rocking with this music jamming!
GRAPHICS: This game is one of the best looking basketball games for the SUPER NINTENDO. The players models are fairly detail and you can easily distinguish one from another. Some of the players even have special hair such as DENNIS RODMAN and goggles such as HORACE GRANT! They all have numbers on their back which can be seen clearly and does help you to tell who is who in the game. They move fluidly and without any slowdowns or choppiness. The courts look very colorful and detailed and so are the players and the crowd. The crowd is one of the best for a basketball game on the SUPER NINTENDO. They are not frozen crowd like many other basketball games. In this game they animate by standing up and raising their hands. Even the coach and bench players on the sidelines move. There is also a revolving billboard on the sideline. They all are wonderfully done in this game.
SOUND: This game has one of the best set of music in any basketball game. They are all solid soundtracks. The intro music is one of the best in any game I have ever played. It really rocks! The songs are very pleasing to the ears! During a game you hear all the usual sound you expect to hear at a basketball game. The crowd is constantly chatting. They cheer when you make a jump shot, a three pointer, a dunk, a block, a rebound, or a steal. They boo when you make mistakes on the court such as turning the ball over, throws an air ball, run out of bound, give up an easy basket, and give up an offensive rebound. You can also hear the ball bouncing, the rim rattling, the ball clanking of the rim, the ball crashing against the board, and the swishing of the net. Adding more excitement the crowd even pound their feet, play drums, and yell DEFENSE to try to help their team win. The sound department of this game is realistic and fantastically done.
OPTIONS: This game has tons of options. There is an exhibition mode where you can play a game against a friend or the computer. You can pick 3,5,8,or 12 minutes quarters as in real NBA. You can play on rookie, starter, or all-star difficulty. You can also choose to play in arcade style which is like streetball without rules, simulation style which is like real NBA, or custom style where you make your own rules. In this game you can trade for anybody on any team. You can also adjust your rosters and there is also a create a player option. This feature is very cool. There are over 30 head models to choose from. You can even choose the college name for your player. There is no limit on how high you can set your attributes so you can make your player as powerful as you like. Which means that you can make your player 99 on many categories such as three point shooting, defensive rebound, dribbling, and more and 99 overall! During a game you are allow to call timeouts, make substitutions, and call offensive and defensive plays. There are over 60 offensive plays and 10 defensive plays to choose from. The important thing is they actually work! You can also intentionally foul in this game which is often needed at close games. Furthermore, there are four created teams where you can put players on them to make a superstar loaded teams. There is even a coach mode where all you do is call plays. If you don't like playing games during the season you can simulate them all or go directly to the playoffs if your record qualify you for a playoffs spot. In season play you can choose from long which is like real NBA with 82 games, medium which is 46 games, and short which is 28 games. Your team statistics as well as your players statistics are kept during the season. If your players are good enough you can see them among the league leaders in all the important categories. Try and beat RODMAN on rebound or STOCKTON on assist if you can!
ENJOYMENT: This game is very fun to play. With all the things that this game has you can literally spend weeks playing around with creating players and trading and drafting players for the two then expansion TORONTO RAPTORS and VANCOUVER GRIZZLIES. Even more there are secret players such as NBA HALL of FAME PLAYERS and many others such as the rookies for the 1996 season and even most of the developers. You can get them by entering their last names and if worked you should hear the clicking sound. You can put these secret players on any team you like. Yes! Enter JORDAN and you will get HIS AIRNESS. He's in the game! Plus, this game has many moves that you can do including crossover dribbles, behind the back passes, alley-opps passes, fade-away jumpers, pump fakes, spin moves, finger rolls, hook shot, one-handed dunks, two-handed dunks, tomahawk jams, double pump jams, reverse slams, windmill slams, 360 slams, and more! All these moves are realistically done and should wow the crowd.
REPLAY VALUE: In 5 years from now you still want to play this game. There's so much entertainment in this game. I have this game for a very long time but i still play it and it's still fun. This is one of those games that has a very high fun factor, a rarity for a sports game. Single player is cool as the computer is very challenging. Multiplayer is awsome and up to 5 players can play together!
OVERALL: This game is truly a revolutionary basketball game. It is the most complete basketball game for the SUPER NINTENDO to date. The gameplay is rock solid and there are many features and options in this game that makes it the SUPREME basketball game for the SUPER NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM.
A true gamer knows that this game is a must have classic. If you don't already have this game you must have it because your game library isn't complete without NBA LIVE '96!

NBA LIVE '96 IS THE UNDISPUTED CHAMPION OF ALL THE BASKETBALL GAMES FOR THE SUPER NINTENDO!!!!!, August 7, 2006
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: NBA Live 96 (Video Game)
This game is the best basketball game for the super nintendo entertainment system! It plays better than all of the other basketball games for the system. The intro in this game is one of the best for a sport game on the super nes. At the beginning you see the words LICENSED BY NINTENDO. Then you see the copyright information. After that you hear the guitar playing in the background and the picture of a giant city. Then the music start to rock! Photos of nba players scroll across the screen as this awsome music rocking! Then you see NBA LIVE '96 on the left side of the screen. Then the names of the people who helped make this game start to roll up. After that you hear an explosion sound as the screen turned white and then dark. Then you see the main menu. The music during the main menu is really good, too. At the main menu you can pick one of the three game modes. They are EXHIBITION, SEASON, AND PLAYOFFS. You can also choose three kinds of rules. There is ARCADE, SIMULATION, and CUSTOM where you can adjust the foul frequency, music, and turn on or off options such as slow-motion dunks, cpu assistance, foul out, backcourt violation, 10-second violation, shock-clock and much, much more. You can also choose to play 3, 5, 8, or like in real NBA, 12 minutes quarters. When you start a game it introduces the teams with comparisions on five categories. These five categories are: SCORING, OFFENSE, BALL CONTROL, DEFENSE, and OVERALL. Three stars for each category being the highest and one star being the lowest. During the game you hear all the usual sounds of basketball: Sneakers squeaking, ball bouncing, rim clanking, thunderous slams, crowd cheers, crowd boos, drums, THREE!!!, and of course the whistle. The important thing is they are done extremely well and make you feel like you are watching a real game! When playing a game you have the many options at your disposal. There are over 60 offensive plays and 10 defensive plays to choose from. Unlike many other basketball games when you call a play your players actually follow your instructions. You can sub out tired players or let the computer do that for you. This game has an amazing amount of moves. On offense you have many weapons at your finger tips. You can crossover your defender, make fall-away jump shots, make alley-oops passes and tip slam. This game features a massive variety of moves. You can do tomahawk jam, reverse slam, double pump jam, windmill jam, one-handed dunk, two-handed dunk, 360 slam, finger role, hook shot, fade-away jumpers, and more! On defense you can call defensive plays, steal, block shots and double team. You can also call INTENTIONAL FOULS! This is very useful when you are just a few points behind at the end of games. Furthermore, you can even assign your players to guard a specific position. This can really help you because it creates mismatches. After each quarter you are shown stats of how each team is doing. At haftime you can see the two key players, one for each team. At the beginning of the third quarter there is even a trivia question to keep you entertained. After the game you will see the player of the game. Then you can view team and player statistics for the game. There is also a shot chart for you to compare the teams and players!
In season mode you can play a full season that includes all 82 games, a medium season which includes 46 games, and a short season which has 28 games. If you don't want to play all the games you can simulate them out. During season play the game keeps track of your players statistics and teams standing. You can also create a user record to see how well you play compare to your friends. League leaders stats are also kept during the season. These stats include all the important categories such as points per game, assists, rebounds, blocks, and steals. They are very accurate according to the players abilities. If you play well enough you will make the playoffs or you can just skip the season and go right to playoffs action! Depending on what kind of season you set it at you will play a 1-3-3-3 format, 3-5-5-5 format, and 5-7-7-7 for the longest season. On rookie and starter difficulties it's very easy to beat your cpu opponents. It's much harder on all-star difficulty and you need to be a veteran of the game to play at this level.
If that's not enough you have the option of trading for any player in the league and build a superstar-studed squad. You can also create players with a variety of attributes and options such as his three point ability and head type to make your created player the MVP of the league! There are also hidden players that when you enter their last name the attributes will change to match them. These players include many HALL OF FAMERS such as Wilt Chamberlain, Micheal Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Julius Erving, Pete Maravich, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and many, many more. The rookies of the 1995-1996 season also work and even the names of most of the developers of the game.
Overall this game is the best basketball game for the super nes, period. It is a revolutionary game for its genre and i consider it one of the best game of all time if not the best. This game has everything you can ask for a basketball game. The music is super cool! The graphics look sharp! The control is easy to learn! The animations are fluid! The game is cramped to capacity with many options and features.
Here is my overall ratings for this game: The Graphics definitely get an A. The players look sharp and move fluidly. There is no slowdown in this game! This game is the most entertaining game i have ever played. I give this game an easy A for Enjoyment. I have this game since the year it was released and still have fun playing it. So, this game gets a big A for Replayability. The music in this game is so addictive that I can't get it out of my head! An A for sound in this game.
So if you don't have this game yet you must go and buy this game. This game has everything to offer a basketball fan and if you are not one you may even find yourself hooked on this game! This game is way, way ahead compare to the other basketball games for the super nintendo entertainment system! You will be glad that you play this game because it is so good! No, even better than good. This game is SUPERB! This game is a must have for any gamer.

this game has everything you can ask for in a basketball game and then some. you can play season, exhibition or go straight to the playoffs if you can't wait to get that trophy. the players in this game move fluidly and the control is deadly accurate. expect to hear great music in this game. i especially like the intro music. it really pumps you up for the action. as for options you can create and edit players and trade any player in the league. in this game you can also unlock players of the past such as wilt chamberlain, julius erving, michael jordan, larry bird, magic johnson and many more including rookies of the 1994-95 season. this basketball game is about as complete as a basketball game that the snes has to offer. you must get this game if you have a super nintendo like me. this system rocks after more than a decade and i still think it is the best game system ever made.
