1.0 out of 5 stars they call this basketball?
This game can be a fun street game game to play, but please, that's all it does. This game doesn't begin to touch the depth of the Gamecube capabilities. Simply juxtapose it with a Nintendo basketball game, designed directly for the Cube and it's blown away. Presently, NBA Courtside 2002 is Nintendo's representative on the market and it deserves to be held on a level all...

And it's PHAT! I love this game, it's like the original nba jam, but a million times better. The graphics are off the hook, each player looks realistic (not cartoonish like amazon claims). The levels are nicely detailed and have some terrific animations (sometimes garbage will blow on to the court, etc). The look of the game will not let you down, and neither will the gameplay. This is the most fun b-ball game i've played in ages, and one of the best sports games i've ever played!! The trick moves, dunks, and rejections are all awesome. Everything flows perfectly, there's no choppiness as you perform unbelievable play after unbelievable play. The gameplay and controls are easy to learn but not necessarily easy to master. There's alot in figuring out how to execute particular maneuvers, which is really fun. The whole game is just awesome, the only possible downside is the lack of 4-player. But hey, it's got a more than adequate 2-player mode to keep you and your friends entertained for months. The differences between the PS2 version are minor- the GameCube version offers slightly improved graphics, a new stadium, and maybe more (i just got it today). This game just totally rocks, it's the most fun thing i've played in a long while. Very Highly Recommended.

Oh Yea- Remember when Nintendo said GameCube would be easier and faster to develop games for? Well this game was originally scheduled to come out in late March, and all of a sudden it hits store shelves a whole month early! I guess they weren't joking about the speedy development of games, which is a very good sign for Cube fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must buy!!, January 24, 2002
By
This review is from: NBA Street (Video Game)
First of all, I am really impressed with EA BIG titles. NBA Street is no different than the rest! I have the PS2 version of this game, and i am looking forward for the GC version. This game mixes tricks with basketball, and they done a great job with it. You do certain tricks to get points and boost. The more boost you get, you get to do a "super" dunk, which is worth lots of points. Its a 3 on 3, and you play until 21 points. The graphics are great, the sound has that street style feel, and it takes about less than a minute to get use to! However, this is not a real basketball game, if you are looking for a real basketball sim, this isnt it! But, if you are looking for a really fun NBA JAM type game, then this is the title worth buying!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Awesome Game!, December 25, 2002
This review is from: NBA Street (Video Game)
This is the best game ever created! The graphics and sound are incredibly life-like! Also, the gameplay is very simple to understand and it is easy to control. Thirdly, it's a lot of fun to play, especially when you get secret characters like the Yeti Snowman (an 8-foot-tall yeti with amazing blocks and dunks), Magma Man (a 7-foot-tall man made from lava and rock who is super-strong), and the Graylien Alien (a 5-foot-tall alien with amazing ball-handling skills). 5 stars!

NBA Street is a jammin video game. All of it's features are fantastic. In NBA Street you play 3 on 3 streetball, the first team to get to 21 points win. And you must win by 2 points. The rules of NBA Street is easy-There are no rules. You can simply do whatever you want to do.

NBA STREET MODES- In NBA Street, there are two modes. City Circuit and Hold the Court. In the City Circuit mode you tour the United States and Canada with Joe "The Show" and you play some of the best ballers in streetball.

In the Hold the Court mode, you can play against some of your friends or play against the street's baddest ballers. In Hold the Court, you try to set a winning streak for each court. If you keep winning, then you keep playing, but if you lose then you'll have to start your streak all over again. You can also unlock items for a created player along the way.

STREET SCHOOL- In Sreet School Joe "The Show" teaches you the basic skills needed for NBA Street

STREET LEGENDS-Here are the greatest players in NBA Street:
BIGGS- A super rebounder and an excellant dunker. He'll mustle you aside every time down the court.
BONAFIDE- This guy may be little but he's got a whole lotta game when it comes to streetball. He's superfast. A great ballhandler and a super 3- point shooter.
DRAKE- Drake has got great skills. He's a great jumpshooter and a superb 3-point shooter.
DJ- A great dunker with great speed and is awesome when it comes to 3-point shooting. A very physical baller.
TAKASHI- He's the biggest baller in NBA Street. At 7'8'' he can block any shot that comes his way and he dunks so hard that the basket might just break.
STRETCH- This guy is one of the best ballers out there. He can do anything wheather it's shotblocking, dunking, shooting, or stealing he's got all the skills needed in NBA Street.

STREET COURTS:
Pacific Blvd-The easiest court to play in
The Paint-Average competition
Beacon Hill-Average competition
South Beach-The competition is above average

Route 66-A really tough place to play
The Yard-Tough competition
The Cage-Average competition
Venice Beach-Very Hard court to play
The Loop-Above average competition

5.0 out of 5 stars NBA Street, "BUY IT NOW" Must have, March 27, 2002
This review is from: NBA Street (Video Game)
Well I was able to put my Gamecube controller down just to give me enough time to write this reveiw and then it's back to NBA Street I go. I Bought NBA Street a month ago and I lost my social life ever since. This game is so addictive it's unbelieveable. There is so much to unlock in this game it will take you months to complete the game. The replay value is exceptional. First off the Graphics are fabulous. There is no slow down or drop off in frame rate at all. Thanks to the power of the Gamecube. The music is great with up to date beats. The control of the game is right on except with the gamecube controller its kind of awkward to hit all 3 trigger buttons and the y button for a trick move. Other then that it is fine. Best part of the game is the create a player feature. You can create a male or female player. This game has the best female create a player I have ever seen. Most games always seem to have male players only to create but the female create a player is awesome. You get to develop that player as you progress through the game as you will read more about that further in my reveiw. You have 2 modes of play City Circuit and Hold the Court. They play exaclty the same except they unlock different aspects of the game. In City Circuit you travel around the USA and play different teams of the NBA. For every game you win you get to pick a player from that team or choose to accept player development points. If you beat all the teams in that region you get to battle the boss with a few of his friends. If you play on the hard level you really need some skill to win. Once you defeat the boss of that region he joins your team and you receive 100 player development points which really comes in handy for your create a player. Once you defeat all the bosses and beat the game you get to choose a secret player to add to your team. Next is the Hold the Court mode. In this mode you pick a court and must win to keep playing. each court has its set of goals you must complete to clear the court. Once you meet the goals and clear the court it opens up so much extras for your create a player. You get to choose different faces, clothing items and shoes. Best part is you get to create your player to the max. You can have a power hungry center and slam it to the basket everytime or have that suave player and shoot the big 2 from the outside all day long. There are no time limits to the game and no refs everything goes. You must do trick moves to earn points and lose your defnsive player gaurding you. The more fancy your trick moves and score to the basket, gives you higher points and fills up your Gamebreaker Meter. When your Gamebreaker Meter is full it gives you unlimited potential to take it to the hoop. Every time you score with the Gamebreaker Meter full you get more points for moves. And if you score a single basket it will add a point to your score and take a point away from the opposing teams score. The same applys with the 2 point shot. I recommend on the harder level setting that everytime you get a Gamebreaker always shoot for the 2 to get the advantage on the opposing team. I highly recommend this game to all, espesially if you are a big basketball fan. So stop reading and add this baby to your shopping cart. I promise you wont be disappointed. Well thats all for now, I really need to get back to my NBA Sreet and bust open some more Gamebreakers. Take care and God Bless to all.......Later........Poof

4.0 out of 5 stars Marix Style moves mix with basketball to bring you the best, September 14, 2002
This review is from: NBA Street (Video Game)
I just got this game yesterday. Don't start saying, "Oh, than he hasn't played it enough to right a real review," because I've been playing this game for about 8 hours it's so phat!

The gameplay is simple. It's basketball. You know when you see NBA you'll be receiving the best in basketball. The court is smaller than a real basketball court, but it works perfectly. There are bunch of different courts you win when you play at certain places. The coolest thing is the Gamebreaker. You hold L+R and press B, and you do this awesome move. It can be recieved by getting your point meter up. You get points for doing cool tricks to evade ball stealing or get around people, plus cool shooting moves, like Butter, Alley-oop or pump fakes. The game is played to 21. One point is awarded for dunks or inside the 3-point line, and 2 points for outisde the 3 point line, whether you shoot it and it goes in or you pass from outside the line to a person to create the alley-oop. You must win within 2 points though. There are many different types of ways to play. There is like a "season" almost. You pick a team, battle about 4 teams. After each team is beaten, you are allowed to take one of the players or award +25-+50 points to everyone's stat meter. After the 4 teams are beaten, you accept a street challenge. It is not a basketball team, just people who go and play you. If you beat them, you get their court and there best player. The only problem here is the limied 2P version. Even N64 games were able to withstand 4P action during basketball games, such as "Showtime." With the slight problem, the gameplay still gets a 9/10.

The Graphics will blow you away! Everyone looks almost real! They have almost near perfect character dipictions, with correct hights too! Instant Replays will make all your friends be going. "OOOOHH!!! DID YOU SEE THAT!" and when you do a gamebreaker, the rim explodes almost. When you win the game and perform a dunk, you do a "rim breaker" where you just smash and break the net, rim and backboard. It's crazy! Gameplay definitly deserves a 10/10.

During sports games, the sound is more like the commentary. And this commentary bites. The guy talks all ghetto and it gets real annoying. Most of the time he says the same stuff. On the court is okay, the basketball bounces, the feet squeak and they have cool sfx for special moves and stuff. Because of the commentary, NBA Street gets a 7.75/10 for sound.

When I say speed I don't mean how fast Kobe is dribbling down the court. I'm talking loading time. The game isn't very impressive in loading time, like Madden. You wait too long for a little matchup than I think is normal. It is definitly not as fast as the other games. The speed gets a 7.65/10

The controls of as simple as they can get. A to pass, B to shoot, X to steal and y to jump. You can goaltend all you want in this, so y comes in handy. Your guy moves how you tell him too, no questions asked. The controls get a 10/10

The replay value is sick! You can play this all day and never get bored. 2P matches or play a season and win more and more stuff. Replay value definityl gets a 10/10

Basically, Street is the best basketball game on the Gamecube.
Let's review:
Gameplay: 9/10
Graphics: 10/10
Sound: 7.75/10
Speed: 7.65/10
Controls: 10/10
Replay value: 10/10
Total: 54.4/60 giving NBA Street a 90.67, giving it a slightly above average game.

Most games have that cheat menu when you select three icons and move your control pad in a certain direction. There are 4 icons, but all the codes stink. They can only hurt you. Only unlimited turbo is helpful. Anything else works againts you or merely makes the game weirder, like different color basketballs or jerseys. I'll add an extra 1.5.

NBA streets new total is 55.4, giving it a 92.33

5.0 out of 5 stars NBA Street, April 16, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: NBA Street (Video Game)
NBA Street is awesome. It has loads of trick moves, including dunks. The gamebreakers and busted rims are cool in every aspect. The player models and create-a-player are very realistic. It even has "Street School", which teaches you the gameplay. There are downsides, though. There are only two modes of gameplay which are kind of similar. The commentary is a tad bit annoying. Still, this is a must have for gamers.

Nba Street is one of the coolest games that i have ever played. It has some pretty cool characters like Yetti, Alein, and magma man. It also has Jordan, Iverson and many other real NBA players. The different places you can play and awesome different moves that you can do just hit the spot. My personal favorite is DINNER'S SERVED! But that's just me. You might like PUTIN' IT HOME or the ALLEY-OOP. All in all, this is a fun all around good game.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: NBA Street (Video Game)
This game is the best basket ball game ever. The cites of the game is cool. The dunking is so realistic. It is easy to beat MJ. The names of the characters is cool. You can also play as the girls in 3LW. There is a dream team member you get to chose after you beat the game things like Magma Man Alien Boy and many more. But they realy messed up on Takashie. He is the worst player. Shak can block balls better than him. There is a grip of cheat codes. The beast thing about it is that when you get real far in the game, they give you the codes. My space is running short. There is one more thing, BUY THIS GAME AND STREETS VOLUMN 2!!!
