Excellent Basketball Game for the Gamboy!,

This 5 on 5 game is very good. The graphics is good for the Gameboy and the music is decent. The control is okay but the computer AI is very weak. You'll get really bored after a while as the computer gives you very little challenge, even on the most difficult setting. Sometimes, you have to go get the ball yourself because the computer is too stupid to even care. Dunks are way too difficult to perform. If you can stand the frustration of having to move your player to get the ball and having your player do a layup instead of a dunk in the open court then get this game. If not there is a better basketball game called NBA 3 On 3 Featuring Kobe Bryant. This game is better in almost every way.

This game made by Konami is really cool. It has cool modes such as the 3-point shootout, and the all-star game. All 29 teams are represented in this game with real players. Although this game is good, I prefer to get NBA 3 ON 3 FEATURING KOBE BRYANT.Here's why: The Best Basketball Game for the Gamboy Systems to Date! Basketball is not a strong genre for the Gameboy. In fact, so many developers have failed to produce a quality basketball game on the system. A handful of games, including well-known titles such as NBA JAM that were so popular during the 16-bit era, have managed to make a visit to the system, but they all are really bad. The fun of the SNES/GENESIS versions were left behind. Gone are the fun and exciting gamplay and music that these titles were known for. Instead, these new versions play and sound nothing like their predecessors. They are plagued with poor graphics, sound, and unresponsive/awkward control. Many of these games are really simple and most of them offer only a few cool options. NBA 3 ON 3 FEATURING KOBE BRYANT, however, is a stellar basketball game that is head and shoulders above its competitors ( if there is any worthy name at all). Developed by Left Field, the same company that made the famous KOBE BRYANT IN NBA COURTSIDE series, and released in December of 1999, this game features rising superstar KOBE BRYANT of the Los Angeles Lakers and many other stars including Shaq, Garnett, Duncan, Vince Carter, Allen Iverson, Tracy McGrady, Dirk Nowitzki, Karl Malone, Paul Pierce, David Robinson, Ray Allen, and many more competing for the NBA TROPHY of the 1999-2000. GRAPHICS: This game looks pretty good. The courts and players are great although they could be better. The animations are smoothly executed. Also, there are cinema-style cutcenes of players doing moves such as slam dunks, alley-opps, and lay-ups once they have a clear path to the basket. These are really cool and add a lot excitement to the game. The graphics of this game is rock solid. A- SOUND: The sound department is not that great, but it is not bad. There are a few cool songs in the game. However, during a game there is no music playing except a for a few short cheering tunes that play once in a while. This is a good thing because hearing the music constantly during a game can get really annoying. Other than that the game has all the whistles and blows expected in a basketball game. There is the sound of the ball bouncing, the swishing sound once a shot is made, and the cheers of the crowd. The sound in this game is good overall. B+ GAMEPLAY: This is where the game really shines. There are loads of options in the game. The main menu features three gameplay modes. They are PICKUP, SEASON, and PLAYOFFS. PICKUP is basically an exhibition game where you choose to play against an opponent just for the fun of it. In SEASON, you can choose to play 82, 56, 28, or 14 games. There are 29 teams waiting for you to take them to the promised land. The way games decided in NBA 3 ON 3 FEATURING KOBE BRYANT is a little different. It's based on how many points you must score first to win the game instead of playing for four quarters. You can choose the number of points to win and how many games you must beat an opponent to win the game. The points to win you can choose are 1, 7, and 15. These may seem too quick for you but you can choose to play a best of 1, 3, 5, or 7 series. On top of that a shot from inside the arc is counted as one and a three pointer is two. So games can actually get really long. Other options in this game include the ability to turn customize almost all the rules in the game. The game also has a create a player mode that is so good. You can create up to six players and rate them in 12 different categories and put them on any team you like. You can also trade for any player you want on your team. Even more, this game keeps stats of your all the teams and players. It also keeps track of team standings and league leaders in all the major categories. These stats are saved automatically after each game. Once you take the floor is where the real actions start. You can do all kinds of moves including spinning, backing down, alley-opp passes, thunderous slam dunks, and acrobatic lay-ups. You are sure to be satisfied once you see the cinema replays of some of those moves. The GAMEPLAY is definitely the cream and crop of this game. A+ OVERALL: This is by far the best basketball game for the Gameboy. Even if you no longer have a Gameboy or Gameboy Color, get this game anyway because it is fully compatible with the GBA and GBA SP systems. I dare add that it is still better than new basketball titles that have been released recently such as BACKYARD BASKETBALL . Chances are there will never be a better basketball game make for the GBA SP. This game is a must have for true basketball fans looking for fun and exciting NBA actions on their NINTENDO handhelds.
