Diverse Sample of Easy to Listen to Songs Featured on Show,

This review is from: NCIS: The Official TV Soundtrack (Audio CD)
The NCIS Soundtrack is not a "score" but rather a collection of songs featured (in part) in episodes of the hit TV series NCIS. Though I bought this double CD set knowing that all the songs featured vocals, I would honestly like to also have a CD of the series score (similar to the BSG soundtracks such as in Battlestar Galactica: Season Two). The first disk does feature an extended version of the theme song for the series (and it is great), and the second disk features a guitar-based industrial cover of the theme by Ministry. As a fan of industrial, gothic, and dark wave music, I'm more partial to the second disk "Abby's Lab", which features some well known and lesser known g/i (goth / industrial) artists. Ministry's remix of the theme song retains enough of the original that I could make the connection between the two tracks after the second time I listened to the remix. However, I prefer Numeriklab's more techno (original) version. Though I'm not 100% certain (I'd have to rewatch the DVD), I believe Android Lust's Hole Solution may be been the track that was playing in the background as early as S1. Season one also featured Collide and a few other artists (not included on this compilation disk). An alternative version of Hole Solution can be found on the Dragonfly single. However, like another reviewer I was hoping that the Abby's lab disk would feature more of the background techno-industrial music that Abby Sciuto more frequently listened to in the first two seasons. My favorite track is Pauley Perrette's "Fear". It took me a second to identify Pauley's voice as Abby (I wasn't looking at the liner notes at the time), but after hearing and falling in love with the song, it is very clear to me that Perrette is a talented musician in addition to being an excellent actress. As you might suspect "Fear" is a gothic rock track that mixes electronics, a fairly steady drum beat, and guitars with Perrette's earthy vocals. I'd compare the track as a meeting of Android Lust (which you can hear on the compilation as well) and Faith and the Muse (in particular I'm thinking of William Faith's guitar work). Though I prefer Disk 2, "Special Agent" (the first disk) features a number of tracks that I also enjoy. I've listed all the tracks that I've found myself tossing into my iTunes playlist. The bottom line is the price on this disk is well worth the investment! Favorite Tracks: - Fear - Stop Making Friends (Disk 2) :) - NCIS Theme - Numeriklab (Disk 1) - Head Spin - Collide (Disk 2) - Hole Solution - Android Lust (Disk 2) - Mama Song - Keaton Simons (Disk 1) - Things Have Changed - Bob Dylan (Disk 1) - Tomorrow Still Comes - Will Dailey (Disk 1) Other Artists: I'm going to list a few other artists you might wish to listen to if you tend to like the music featured in Abby's Lab in the show and on the second disk. - Delerium - Bitcrush - Monstrum Sepsis - Claire Voyant - Gridlock - The Mission UK - Monolith

Numeriklab and Cote de Pablo,
This review is from: NCIS: The Official TV Soundtrack (Audio CD)
It seems that I find myself listening to the NCIS theme song by Numeriklab and Temptation a excusive by Cote de Pablo. When you first listen to the theme song you think that you know the song, but where the song ends in the opening credits is just the first verse. Cote de Pablo did a great job preforming Temptation, If you do not listen to it you will not believe how great see sings. I have yet to listen to the second disc and most of the first disc, but Temptation and the NCIS theme song is all that is needed to make it great in my mind

I ordered this in hopes of getting more of the music they play during the sequences in Abbi's lab. Unfortunately that music just isn't there. I would have appreciated knowing the tittles to the pieces on the disc before I ordered,or maybe being able to listen to parts of pieces would have helped. I do like the second disc and probably would have bought that one alone. But a sample of the top songs on a disc would really help.(Abbi's lab is the name of one of the selections on the primary disc)

This was a great investment. It's a two-disk set for the price of an average one-disk album. It's got exclusives and it offers the rare opportunity to hear the vocal talents of two of your favorite stars of the show. "Temptation" by Cote de Pablo is worth the price of the album alone.I docked a star because the disk "Abby's Lab" was absolutely not anything you would hear in Abby's lab. With the cover art dedicating so much space to Abby (which I LOVED), I expected less commercially driven song choices, and perhaps some more show-faithful techno music. All-in all, if you love the show, you'll love the soundtrack.

I enjoy watching this show as often as I can, and always like the music, so I was eager to buy this album when it became available. It's a nice eclectic mix of rock music from many different artists; the surprises being the actors from the series who can also sing! Not every track will be to everyone's taste, but there will be enough good stuff on here to make it worthwhile to purchase this. As for me, I enjoy ALL of the tracks.

Love the show, love the music,

I'm not sure what aspect of NCIS hooked me, but suffice to say, I am well and truly addicted to this show. I had to buy the soundtrack as soon as I knew it was out and no way do I regret it.You know when you catch a snippet of a song on a program and wonder what the heck was that? NCIS is one of those shows where I have to look up the music almost every week. Lucky for me, they've started listing the artist and name now. Good stuff on these two CDs and it's a pretty good bang for the buck, too. Favorites: No Matter What -- Jakob Dylan Temptation -- Cote de Paolo After All -- Saving Abel Rebecca Kyle, March 2009

An amazing soundtrack, if you really would call it an actual soundtrack.Great songs on both discs. Disc 1 is called "Special Agent", which has Cote de Pablo singing "Temptation", along with quite a few surprises like Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp, Jakob Dylan, and Numeriklab's "NCIS Theme". Disc 2 is called "Abby's Lab", which is primarily music that you would hear in Abby's lab. This disc has a remix by Ministry of "NCIS Theme". The big surprise, at least for me, was seeing (well, actually hearing) Pauley Perrette (Abby) with her band Stop Making Friends. One would think that Pauley and Abby would sound alike, but they don't. When Pauley sings her voice is husky, unlike her character of Abby on NCIS. Perry Farrell, The Airborne Toxic Event, and Solamingus are also part of "Abby's Lab". I did not think that I would like the songs from "Abby's Lab" heard in their entirety, but I do. The complete 2 discs (22 tracks) is fantastic and I'm glad that I did buy it.

LOVE MY SOUNDTRACK !!!,
By Fatluc "Fatluc" (Moorpark, CA) - See all my reviews

I think the album is great and love NCIS's opening theme which sounds exact to the one in the show, just longer. I don't know about the other reviewer, but I would be upset if I got a shorter version of the theme or one that wasn't from the show. Also, I am happy CBS/Paramount gave us such a cool product from our favorite show. This Soundtrack doesn't seem to be about the score music in the show, but rather songs from outside artists used in the show.I bought my Soundtrack and love it!
