2.0 out of 5 stars not for NCLEX prep, January 12, 2007

First of all, look at the author's credentials. MD? Hello? I want to be a RN! Moving on- I agree with other's reviews that every piece of information in this book is critical, but the key to NCLEX success is understanding processes, not just memorizing facts. This book does not provide backgrounds or rationales, only straight facts. Also, the accompanying CD contains 1,000 questions but they only test straight knowledge. They are not NCLEX style questions and so do not prepare you to take the NCLEX. I can see how this book might help you study for your Med-Surg exams, but there are much better options for NCLEX prep. (I'm so glad I borrowed it from the library & didn't pay for it!) A great book for the money is the Saunder's review. It provides pleny of tables for "quick facts", but also provides essential background information, and highlights the absolute essentials that are likely to be tested. Also, has 4,000+ NCLEX style questions on CD so you can practice testing, which is studies show is ESSENTIAL for NCLEX success. Last but certainly not least, the Saunder's book is written by a RN!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars NCLEX-rRN Made Ridiculously Simple, August 1, 2005
This review is from: NCLEX-RN Made Ridiculously Simple [With CDROM] (Paperback)
This book should only be used as an adjunct for study. Unfortuately there is nothing simple about preparing for the nclex. Your time would be better spent on understanding the test and taking practice tests.
