5.0 out of 5 stars great monitor, great price
apparently, manufacturing quality is spotty on this product, because my 95F is great. My 95F has sharp graphics & text, and no edge distortions; I did need to use the on-screen controls to adjust things, but that seems to be a normal thing these days. I normally run it at 1280x1024 @85hz, and 9pt text is clear and easy to read. It worked fine with my Powerbook G3 and...

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disapointed
After reviewing the technical data on this monitor, I was expecting it to be a quality product. I've had it three days and all I've seen so far is one problem after the other. First, the text at the center is clear but at the edges it is blurry. Second, the top right and left corners give a distorted image. I'm going to return this bargain monitor and invest in a...

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite an impressive unit!, January 7, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: NEC AccuSync 95F Flat Screen 19" CRT Monitor (Electronics)
I'm writing to balance out the rating for this monitor because it deserves a higher rating than it presently has - despite the problems one reviewer experienced with theirs. I purchased this unit for my son, and every time I look at it I am envious. It's that nice! My own monitor is a 17" triniton tube that isn't bad, but this NEC flat screen is simply beautiful and detailed whether displaying text or a game. Don't let the low price fool you - NEC built a lot of quality into this monitor.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value - Decent Monitor, December 24, 2001

When shopping for my new monitor I had trouble finding reviews for this model. Even so, I went out on a limb and bought it because NEC typically makes good products. I'm quite pleased with my purchase. The text and graphics on this monitor are crisp and bright, much more so than I was expecting for a shadow masked monitor. The edges are a little dimmer than the center, and when you view the monitor from a sharp angle the edges seem to disappear. This is not abnormal though, even on much more expensive monitors that I've used.

I would say this unit is equally as good as the Samsung 955DF, but it's cheaper. That's the main reason I bought the monitor. Good price ... because of the price and the quality of the picture, I've rated the monitor 4 out of 5 stars. It could be better, but not for this money!

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice Monitor (when it works), April 5, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: NEC AccuSync 95F Flat Screen 19" CRT Monitor (Electronics)
The monitor is clear, bright and sharp, with a comprehensive set of adjustments available. Unfortunately it goes black with a vertical line down the center after about an hour or so of use with graphics heavy applications (aka games). Once it was allowed to "cool down" it would work fine again for another hour. Thank Heaven for Amazon.com's return policy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this !!!! A bad bad bad quality monitor, October 5, 2005

This monitor is a total no good. The one I currently have is my fifth since April 2002 and I stopped RMA it because I can't trust them anymore. The initial one was brand new. Of course they respected their warranty, but this is where they fell in the no good customer service because they were not able to go further and recognize that this monitor is a piece of crap. Already the first time (40 days after the initial buy) I offered them to upgrade to a Mitsubishi (higher quality) and pay the difference but they never agreed. The people working for Nec/Mitsubishi only have three choices over their screen: 1 - you send it back, then we send a refurbished. 2 - we send you a refurbished and then you send the other one back. 3 - have a nice day sir! (at least, they were polite every time) A telephone robot could do the job: they can't go no further and you can't talk to anyone who can take a real decision. At the third monitor, I changed my video card thinking it was the problem but no. This monitor is supposed to be optimized for 1280x1024 at 85 Hz but it seems like the parts in it just can't stand it. I must now run it at 1024x768 if I don't want it to kind of stall (screen blacks out and then a vertical white line appears in the center and everything goes black and no it is not windows power management and yes all the good drivers are installed correctly and no there is nothing in the monitor's menu to adjust this. It's a SCREEN HARDWARE DEFAULT!) Now for the return policy, each time you wait over one month to RMA it, YOU have to pay for the shipping of your screen. All in all, I had to pay 3 times for shipping ($100 CAD more). I'm telling everyone to stay away from NEC at all in everything. If they can't recognize a total flop on one item, they do not deserve the trust of the customers. STAY AWAY FROM NEC !!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Never Again!, March 16, 2004
By
This review is from: NEC AccuSync 95F Flat Screen 19" CRT Monitor (Electronics)
I have had this monitor for over 2 years. It's reliable, but the display quality leaves a lot to be desired. There's terrible moire that's hard to get rid of and the edges and corners never look right. I have played with all the buttons until my finger tips started to hurt. I went with NEC's reputation and bought the monitor sight unseen, a decision I have regretted ever since.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't get this monitor if you value your eyesight, August 1, 2003
This review is from: NEC AccuSync 95F Flat Screen 19" CRT Monitor (Electronics)
About a week ago I had my 17" Dell monitor "upgraded" with the AS 95F. After one day of use my eyes were burning. The monitor has an annoying flicker in the lower right corner, regardless of the refresh rate used. There are also light horizontal bands present in the white backgrounds. My friend in the next cube has the same problems with his AS 95F as well. I would rather have my 17" Dell monitor than the AS 95F.
Since visual quality is the most important feature in a monitor IMHO I gave this model a rating of 1. I would not buy it.
