NEC's 17-inch MultiSync LCD1760NX-1 uses an active-matrix, TFT (thin-film-transistor) LCD to deliver a vivid, high-contrast picture in a wall-mountable frame less than three inches deep. The monitor gives you digital and analog inputs, NEC's Rapid Response technology for smooth, and full-motion video--and its small footprint and low weight make it easy to position and transport.

Using multiple-frequency technology, the monitor automatically adjusts to the scanning frequency of your computer's display card to give you the required resolution. A feature called No Touch Auto Adjust optimizes the monitor's image settings at power-on, while the unit's OSM lets you quickly adjust all elements of your image through simple onscreen menus.

You'll enjoy plug-and-play performance with the Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000, and XP operating systems, which facilitate installation by allowing the monitor to send its capabilities (such as screen size and supported resolutions) directly to your computer, automatically optimizing the display. Six AccuColor presets give you a choice of color setting (sRGB and NATIVE color presets are standard and cannot be changed).

Supplied LiquidView software ensures easy, high-resolution readability by providing the largest font/icon/tool and task-bar sizes at native resolutions. Meanwhile, NaViSet software provides an intuitive graphical interface for screen-setting controls so you can make adjustments via your mouse and keyboard. FullScan capability uses the entire screen area in most resolutions, significantly expanding image size.

NEC's Rapid Response technology delivers lifelike, full-motion video with response times of 30 ms or less. Rapid Response virtually eliminates ghosting or blurring during streaming video while achieving at least 33 frames per second (fps).

The onboard IPM (Intelligent Power Manager) system allows the monitor to shift to a lower power-consumption level when it's on but not in use, saving two-thirds of your monitor energy costs, reducing emissions while lowering the air conditioning costs of your workplace.

Other ErgoDesign features include a tiltable base, small footprint, and compliance with MPRII and TCO guidelines for lower emissions. The monitor's VESA-standard mounting interface lets you connect the monitor to any VESA-standard third-party mounting arm or bracket.

Any time I think about ordering LCD monitors or TVs, I immediately worry about stuck or dead pixels. This has especially been the case recently as my friends continually buy LCD monitors from Dell and get angry when they receive a monitor with several bright-colored stuck pixels (it's sad that this is considered within manufacturer's specs). So with this thought in mind I still pulled the trigger on this NEC/Mitsubishi. I held me breath as I powered it up and guess what?.... It's perfect. No dead or stuck pixels and very little light "piping" from the edges. This is the second NEC/Mitsubishi LCD i've owned (this one is replacing a 15") and they were both free of bad pixels. Very, very pleased.
