Nice LCD,
By
This review is from: NEC LCD1770GX-BK 17" LCD Monitor (Black) (Electronics)
This is my first LCD flat panel monitor and it's really nice. The menu is really easy to figure out. At first, when I just got it and installed it, I didn't really know what the DVI Plug was and was having difficulty. I was reading the manual and it didn't say anything about either using both the dsub(monitor plug) and the DVI or just the dsub plug. I played around and figured it out and knew how it works. If you're using the DVI plug, then it would appear in the 1st select on the monitor button. If you're using the dsub plug, then you would have to use the 2nd select on the monitor (kind of like on a TV where you want to play games and you would have to switch from Video1 and Video2). After I got this part down, it was pretty straight forward, you will also have to set the right size for the monitor in the properties.

Haste brings waste,
This review is from: NEC LCD1770GX-BK 17" LCD Monitor (Black) (Electronics)
Well, I can say three things about myself, building computers has always been very enjoyable and fun for me, the hardware aspect aned visual qualities of games and movies is one of my top hobbies.
Until this past summer Id been in the age of CRT's and though I wanted an LCD could not justify the cost, but now leading to the third thing about myself, I got to eager, had some extra cash so I quickly went out and bought one that my roommate raved about (IE this one the nEC 1770GX.) Every time Ive bought a computer product with out fully researching it, and believe me theres only be 2 other occassions I did not fully research somethign and Ive regreted it ever since. At the time I purchased this monitor it was 400 dollars, for a 17 inch that was pretty expensive, today 9 months later that is extremely expensive compared to other ones of equal or better quality. after 7 months of operation the back light went out, so i sent it in, NEC honored the warranty and replaced it, however they did not send me the same LCD back nor the orginal box I sent in. The LCD I got back did work, but had a dead pixil which the orginal did not. Very disappointing. As follows is my pro and con list for this LCD Pro's visual quality in games is great for the most part light weight adustable stand is great USB on monitor is a neat feature max resolution 1200 * 1024 for most apps (standard) screen is much brighter then most LCD's Protective glass over the LCD so its easier to clean Con's back light out after 7 months of use 1124 * 1000 actual screen size in most games DVD's display a weird black line on the right side only 17 inch's for the price! Far superior LCD's out now and then for the price

NEC is great,
This review is from: NEC LCD1770GX-BK 17" LCD Monitor (Black) (Electronics)
got this moniter for my computer about 2-3 years ago and I have not had a single problem with it. It is as bright and clear now as it is the day I got it. I am now shopping for a new widescreen moniter and this moniter has made me decide to stick with NEC for ever.
I feel sorry for the guy who got 2 bad ones in a row that is really unfortunate but he is the first person I have heard of having a problem like that.
