A 17-inch display from NEC, the LCD1770NX is a sleek monitor with the flexibility to accept a wide variety of inputs and the image quality to suit the needs of today's home office and small business users. With a 1,280 x 1,024 maximum resolution and 0.264 mm dot pitch, on-screen images are clear and crisp, while a 500:1 contrast ratio and 250 cd/m2 of brightness deliver rich graphics and easy-to-read text.

The LCD1770NX supports both analog and digital inputs, so you can connect to nearly any graphics card, and plug-and-play compatibility makes setup a snap. An integrated USB 2.0 hub allows you to connect additional USB peripherals to your computer, and a super fast 12 ms response time ensures that motion graphics and video are displayed smoothly and without interruption.

Wide 160-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles provide a good range of visual clarity, while an adjustable stand allows you to adjust monitor height to best suit your environment. The thin bezel design makes this a good choice for multiple monitor setups, and the speaker option allows you to add a multi-media element to your setup (speakers sold separately).

I previously purchased a Samsung SyncMaster 710n 17" LCD Monitor from Amazon (via TigerDirect) and was not totally satisified with the image quality. Because of a tragic shortage of desk space (eaten up by hulking CRT monitors) I revisited LCD panels with this NEC device (again from TigerDirect, but ordered through Amazon).

The NEC is by far the superior product. It is equally bright, the colours are strong and clear, image rendering is excellent. Also, there is absolutely no subtle flickering or image jitter which I noticed with the Samsung. No matter how much I fiddled with that one, I could never get the image to be both rock-steady and totally clear. The NEC has never exhibited any such problem and worked excellently without any adjustment (other than the 'auto-setup' it went through), right out of the box.

I strongly recommend this monitor. It works extremely well, and it is not expensive. As a replacement for a CRT monitor, and perhaps in a bid to reclaim desk space, it is perfect.

I bought a Nec 1770NX lcd display.
However, it is not very good. The text is clear and the detail is ok, but the brightness and contrast are a problem. I had to spend a lot of time adjusting to get it so that it wasn't too light, or to dark. The contrast is just not enough on this monitor. It suffers
from a washed out look.

This is strange, at work I have an NEC 1760vx and it is fine.
I also have at work, an NEC 1980Sxi, and it is great.

I haven't had a single problem with it since I have had it. Great colors, great sound quality, awesome auto-adjust to give you a perfect look. Love it. I use it on the side of my laptop as a second monitor and it does everything I could ask it to do. Would definitely recommend it to anyone!
