A really pleasing monitor,
By KlessS (Azores, Portugal) - See all my reviews
This review is from: NEC MultiSync 70GX2 17" LCD Monitor (Personal Computers)
Well-built and laid out, excellent image quality. Elegant design (in black/silver, at least). No dead pixels on mine. Tilt and base swivel only, does not pivot or move vertically. I think the engineering went into the internals rather than the externals, but solid on its base and not flimsy. I don't game, so I can't comment on the speed of response, although movies look quite good.
I am still mourning my 20" Sony that gave up the ghost a couple of months ago, but I got two of these after reading a summary of reviews at Consumer Search ([...]). I was shocked to see them on sale at Tiger for $[...], when the quoted list on CS was $[...]. With the USB hub, "extra" cables and software available online, these are worth the money for what one gets. Compared to some of the Dells that I've set up, these are fantastic. I still miss the deep blacks that the Sony produced when viewing images, and as mentioned in a the 90GX2 review, they are VERY bright monitors, but as CRTs are more expensive to ship, run, and dispose of, these are a strong consolation. I don't miss moving that 60 lb. behemoth! I use a MacBeth Display Calibrator with room lighting compensation to keep the brightness at reasonably consistent levels. The sharpness of the monitors is also very high. It isn't mentioned anywhere, and not obviously the case, but it is possible to use both the DVI and VGA inputs at the same time. A single button to select source.

We've had this for over a year now and no issues at all. Picture quality looks great after a little tweaking of the settings.
