The pieces in this starter set are great, even for non-DC fans. The use of translucent plastic on the figures is excellent, and the figures themselves are excellent for home games or tournament play. The map, however, is a complete travesty and should never have been included in a starter set. The markings on the map are often unclear and, in fact, the map's been officially errata'd by WizKids to correct the mistakes.

Overall, I rate this set as about average (between the excellent pieces and the dreadful map). If you're looking to get into Heroclix for the first time and aren't concerned with whether you have the latest rules for tournament play, I'd go with the Fantastic Four starter set instead.

I'll just make this a short review.
I haven't played Heroclix in years, but this set is most likely going to get me back in the saddle. It comes with instructions on how to play the game, a nice sheet that lists all the abilities of the characters, fantasticly molded and painted characters, character cards for abilities, and a map. The price for this on Amazon is cheaper than I've seen in stores by about three dollars.
It's just a really great set to pick up if you're first starting out.
