This review is from: NEEWERŽ 52mm Wide Angle + 52mm Telephoto lens Kit! ~ INCLUDES Lens bags! (Electronics)
I purchased the kit to try the 2X telephoto with my 55-200 mm VR Nikon lens, but I was disapointed by the outcome it produces. There were some side effects at low end of the lens (at 55mm,) but that was not what really bugged me. I expected to increase the 200mm range, I knew I would not get quality close to a 400mm lens, but if you look at the pictures I've uploaded, you will see the terrible haze it produced. There was only one lens I liked from the kit, the macro! Now I feel that I've paid too much for just a cheap macro lens... Oh, well!

These lenses are very nice and convenient if you cannot afford the real deal. I found that I enjoyed the telephoto lens more than the wide angle, but I would highly recommend both of them. Shipping was fast and the lenses produced a great picture when used with a 18-55 lens. The macro lens was also really great. I will post pictures as soon as I can.

the images are very blurry! possibly because i have a fz-100 (BEST CAMERA EVER) which zooms to 600mm, so the image quality may be due to that with the 2X lens. THE wide angle seems nice, but there is a black circle, so cropping is required. by the time it is cropped, the mm difference is probably very slim! the macro seems ok at least. The main nice thing is the pouches. ALL NICE!!

I used this on a shoot within 2 days of receiving it and it was terrific. Inexpensive, but quick and versatile. Converts quickly from wide angle to macro, threads directly onto my filter. Sturdy quality, would definitely recommend it!

Both a telephoto and wide-angle converter for less than $20? After reading the reviews (both positive and negative), I took a chance. These lenses must be the best kept secret -- and best value -- in photography, especially if you shoot a lot of portraits andstill-lifes. I use a Nikon DSLR with a 50mm prime lens that pretty much remains on the camera at all times. On a DSLR, the 50mm actually becomes a 75mm lens, a nice size for portraits. I don't like changing lenses, but sometimes need a wider or closer view (the 2x telephoto seems to bring the actual focal length to about 115mm -- ideal for the shooting I do). These Neewer lenses screw right on top of the 50mm, allowing me to get a wider or longer focal length more quickly than changing lenses (and without the risk of getting dust on the camera's sensor). The following explains why you would be crazy not to buy these lenses: 1. Unbelievable value. I initially looked at teleconverters by other companies, and found the prices ($200 and up in some cases) ridiculous. For both a wide-angle and telephoto, the Neewer lenses are less than $20! But what about quality comparisons? This is where things get interesting -- see #2, 3 and 4 below. 2. Excellent light gathering ability. With most teleconverters, you give up about 2 stops of exposure brightness (i.e. if you were shooting at ISO 200, you'd have to increase ISO to 800 or lower your shutter speed, etc). I was surprised to see that the Neewer lenses gave me fairly identical exposure readings to what I had before putting them on -- there was maybe 1/3 of a stop decrease in exposure -- which is excellent. 3. Very good sharpness. Keep in mind that the edges of the frame can be soft depending on the aperture you choose -- an asset for many portraits -- but a negative for the landscape photographer who is looking for sharpness from edge to edge. For the Neewer telephoto, shooting at F2.8 was slightly soft but pretty good. Sharpness was better at F4 and excellent at F5.6. If you are shooting landscapes with the wide-angle, you really need to shoot at F5.6 or better if you want the edges of the frame to not be unacceptably soft. This should not be a problem in daytime conditions when you might be inclined to shoot at F8 or above anyway. 4. Very Good Build Quality. How can other companies allow themselves to be outdone here by a $10 lens? (Both the telephoto and wide-angle together cost about $20). The all metal construction of these lenses puts to shame the lenses most of us own with plastic (not metal) lens-mounts that will eventually break off over time. I took several test portraits using these ridiculously cheap lens converters -- and was surprised at the level of detail. You wouldn't think that the pictures were taken with something other than a 'regular' lens. In other words, I'm not saying that these lenses perform well based on their low price -- they perform well period, especially if you shoot a lot of portraits and still-lifes. These lenses have been a pleasant surprise. |
