You can use the adapters on this device to adapt the cable to support different kinds of things. One moment, it's a USB cable! The next moment, it's a FireWire cable! And if what you want is a cable that can be used for many different things, this is right up your alley. It works just fine for this purpose.

It does _NOT_, however, convert FireWire to USB or vice-versa. If this is what you need, then you will be disappointed, because it was never intended to do this.

It is not possible to convert from any USB version to or from Firwire. A cable cannot do this. This product is inappropriately named and should be changed.

I bought this item to see if it was possible to connect a Firewire (i.Link1394) item to a USB port. If you look at the description it does have one adapter. Why would it have one since NOW I know they are completely different protocols. Not only that but it did damage the Firewire port rendering it useless!!!
As a USB cable (and by that I mean USB-A to USB-B could not get it to work either....
Stay away from this item!!!!

I had a similar problem with damage to a usb port and it actually killed the netbook attached to it.
I am not an idiot I knew there was a lot more power in the firewire I thought this device would regulate or at least do something it did nothing as for data or charging.
as for the usb the a/a works ok as little more than an extension a/b I have not tested it is hi speed, at least when it works.
I did however have one that was totally doa I did not send it back becasue shipping would cost more than the paperweight being shipped.

THE ADAPTERS ARE VERY IMPORTANT FOR MY JOB FILMING VIDEOS. I WORK IN THIS TRADE I NEED TO CONTACT DIFFERENT PORTS. THANK YOU FOR THE SENDING. I HAVE IT AT HOME.

I was feeling nostalgic so I tried to access the music I had stored on an ancient MP3 of mine. I had lost the USB cable for it long ago so I scoured the Internet for another one. This travel kit had exactly it. Very happy with this purchase.

This cable is not a firewire-usb converter, is just a usb cable with interchangable tips, the construction is poor, and the quality overall doesnt seem to be very good.
If youre looking for a converter this is NOT what youre looking for.

I like this one as it will fit almost everything So I have it in my bag so as I travel around I can make things work when fixing computer connections to other things . .

I am satisfied with this product. Not fancy and the quality is so-so, but it works exactly as I had hoped. A good value for the money.
