This review is based upon my son's experience with this book, as I haven't read it myself. This is the 3rd book in this series about a group of kids who act as spies or secret agents for the government. Apparently, the author belonged to this group when he was a kid! Each of the kids have special super-talents that help them get the job done. In this book, a less-than-attractive girl gets plastic surgery so that she can become a cheerleader. She and the cheerleaders are disrupting the time-space continuum (or something like that) by traveling to different dimensions, stealing things and bringing them back to our dimension. The NERDS team must stop them.

My son, now 10, read the first book when he was 8 and the second book when he was 9. He finished them both in a few days. He has been waiting about a year for this one to come out. When he received it, he read it in 2 days flat. These books are funny and interesting. He said this one was the best of the 3 because it contained funny quizzes throughout. For example:

"On a scale of 1 to 10, rate your feelings about the following list of crimes - "1" being a crime against humanity and "10" being a tiny crime:
-Driving a car into an orphanage
-Taking the world hostage
-Kidnapping someone's pet
-Toppling a governemt
-Building a giant robot to crush a city
-etc.

-OR-

A dog bites you. What do you do?
a. Run crying to the hospital
b. Enjoy the beautiful pain and thank the dog
c. Track the dog back to its family and exact revenge
d. Bite the dog back

Needless to say, my son loved this book as much as the first 2. I recommend this series, especially for boys and/or reluctant readers.

We originally picked this up for my son when he was in 3rd grade. He loves this book and the others in this series and has continued to read them even now that he is in 4th grade. Big kudos to his 3rd grade teacher for recommending this.

A Kid's Review on October 28, 2011
Format: Hardcover
Review from This Kid Reviews Books! Find me on the Web!

NERDS super agent, Wheezer finds herself having to go undercover and infiltrate an elite group of evil doers - cheerleaders! Wheezer never thought she'd ever even wear a skirt but now she finds herself in a CHEERLEADING OUTFIT, wearing MAKE-UP, at A CHEERLEADING CAMP! Wheezer must figure out who "Mathlete" is and convince her to stop using the machine she invented that allows people to travel to alternate universes because it is destroying the world. Will she find Mathlete, be able to endure cheerleading, save the world, and find out that she is not just a tomboy? This book is a hilarious 3rd book to the NERDS series! I like how Mr. Buckley features a different NERD as the main character in each book. The story is awesome, I like the idea that Wheezer was traveling to different worlds and seeing other versions of herself and her friends. I also like how there is narration from Mr. Buckley in NERDS books like he is a former NERD agent. I recommend this to all geeks, nerds, poor kids that get picked on and just any kid 8+. I think if I were a NERD I'd like to have the code name "Techno" with the NERDY powers of knowing how everything works.

My son is in second grade and LOVES these books. They are a tough read, though, and he has been reading well above grade level for a while. There are some really big words and some tough concepts for young kids. But overall I love that it has stretched his reading skills and been enjoyable enough for him to stick with it and not get frustrated. Love them! And such a great concept, that what might be troublesome traits making kids nerds also makes them uniquely skilled for being secret agents.

My 10 year old son does not loooove reading like his sisters and I do, but he does love the NERDS series. When he finds a series that he likes, I buy it! He has already read the first and second books twice, so he was excited to receive the third book in the series!

This is the series that got my son to really love reading!
He only read because we told him to before, and he liked it but wouldn't pick up a book on his own. Now there are several series that he can't put down. He was so hooked that he asked every day if this book had come yet. Thankfully, Amazon didn't let me down and it arrived early.
What a great investment for the future!
