1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money! February 4, 2009

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
This item was frustrating. I purchased this adapter so my fiancee could play her old Nintendo. The original adapter that came with the system was worn out and the connector for the back of the TV set had fallen off. So, I figured this one would do the trick.

After connecting this adapter I noticed that there were lines of electrical interference running through the picture. No matter what I did, these lines would not go away. Eventually, I threw this item in the trash and used a piece of electrical tape to fix the original game adapter and, although ghetto-rigged...it looked perfect.

Save your money on this item!

1.0 out of 5 stars complete waste of money July 25, 2013

First of all, the item that arrived didn't even closely resemble the picture presented but that's ok, as long as it works right? It doesn't. As soon as I took this plastic mess out of the box I knew it wasn't going to work on my NES “toploader.” The problem is that the toploader, unlike the original NES, doesn't provide the option to use av cables; connecting via rf is your only option, this being the reason why I ordered an rf switch in the first place. The amazing thing about this product however is that it’s lacking an “rf out” input. You have to connect this rf box to your console via the AV input, which my console doesn't have... If I had the option to use av cables, please for the love of god tell me why I wouldn't just use av cables! They're much cheaper and less awkward than an rf switch and the picture and sound is better also! I don’t have that option for my nes, that’s why I bought this crap-factory! How could they exclude the “rf out” jack? This product only works for people who have the option to use AV cables but choose to go RF. Why anyone would CHOOSE to use an rf switch over av cables is beyond my comprehension and defies all logic and common sense. I'm sure this product works for the old-school nes which actually does have an av input but again, if there exists an option to use av cables, there is no reason in this universe to use the rf over av cables. This isn't 1985 anymore, av cables are extremely common and can be bought at the 99¢ store. I bought an rf switch because I NEED an rf switch–one that connects via the antenna– not one that only connects via av input, I would just use the av cables!! Read more ›

4.0 out of 5 stars works for the most part. August 4, 2014

I bought this for my old nes. And it works fine for that but you have to put your TV on Channel 4 just like the good old days. The con I've found with this is that it doesnt do a good job relaying the cable signal. For example. Cable tv works fine when it is hooked directly to the TV but When the cable line is hooked up to this my tv loses signal and you have to wiggle the RF Unit. This is fine for me though because I am getting rid of cable anyway.

UPDATE:
I should mention than my NES is a toploading console.
Also this works with the snes as well

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I ordered a new Universal RF Automatic TV/Game Switch that works with an SNES. What I got was an Automatic RF Unit. Now if my kids want to play the SNES, someone has to remove the antenna cable and plug in the RF unit. My old item included an automatic switch so the antenna cable and the SNES could both be connected to the TV at the same time.
Also one of the plugs has three prongs in it, one of which is bent. If it is new, it is crap.

This cable fit into my sega however it wouldn't connect to my TV. I have a newer HD-Flat screen TV and i wanted a coax connector to hook it up like the picture shows.....IT LIES! it uses an RF connector which didn't work with my TV. Also it came in a different box than the one shown. Shipped back and got a different one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not at all what it was advertised to be January 25, 2013

I have not used this item as it is not what I asked for. It is for Sega not usable if you have a newer tv with cable connection. Can only be used on a stand alone television with nothing else attached. Item is sitting in its original box in my closet just taking up space. Worthless for usability.

This converter simply did not work with our old original Sega Genesis console. I have yet tried to return it which may turn out to be more effort than it is worth. Complete waste.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT PRODUCT! February 6, 2014

I bought this for use with my SNES and Sega Genesis mainly just for the ease of leaving them both hooked up and not having to constantly change out cords. It works and fits great!
