5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent case study to see the whole architecture of .NET, May 15, 2002
This review is from: .NET e-Business Architecture (Paperback)
I won this book at the 2002 ASP.NET conference and I'm glad I did! Although I have been in commercial .NET development for about 6 months now, this book has still been useful. It covers the development of an e-business site and shows you a lot of the design considerations. Along the way, you're introduced to ways of solving problems you may not have realized.

Besides .NET, there are useful sections on SQL Server 2000 (including Index Performance Analyzer, SQLXML, and Stored Procedure tricks), COM+, and a general security/roles discussion. And they present it within a .NET deployment scenario. Although most of the .NET coding techniques are easily grasped, understanding how they all fit together takes time. And this book is useful in helping you see the big picture.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good high-level overview, June 14, 2002

This review is from: .NET e-Business Architecture (Paperback)
This book provides a good-high level overview of the design and integration of a complex, e-business system. The case study is a good approach, and easily adaptable to many "real-world" scenarios.

My only complaint was that there was not much discussion or examples of actual code in the book, thus one is left to sort through the source code (provided on their website) to try and see how their architecture approach boils down to the code level.

Overall, however, this is a good introduction to planning and designing n-tiered applications with the .NET framework.

It's a ok book, but the download code dose not work. The book is useless without the code.
And don't expect any help from the Publisher, you won't get any!
So save your money and buy another book instead!
